Solo projects are notoriously difficult. Sometimes they are born of internal conflict within a band leading to splintering factions looking to pave their own way. More often than not it proves that a part is not greater than the sum of the whole: who can honestly say they prefer Serj Tankian’s solo work to the output of System of a Down? They can also be the result of an ego attack, a misplaced sense of superiority with often disastrous results. Lamb Of God’s Mark Morton, however, seems to fall into neither category, so his debut solo release, Anesthetic (WPP/Spinefarm Records) can only be viewed as a long-awaited labour of love.Continue reading

Phil Anselmo has created a brutal new song for the theme song of Slayer’s Tom Araya’s upcoming “Hair Metal Shotgun Zombie Massacre” project! Members Of Lamb Of God, Animals As Leaders, Sworn Enemy Members Unite In Supergroup Over It All
Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe, Animals As Leaders guitarist Javier Reyes, Sworn Enemy guitarist Lorenzo Antonucci, 33 & West Booking Agency co-founder JJ Cassiere and Mediaskare Records head Baron Bodnar have created a new supergroup called Over It All. Blythe posted to his Instagram news of the band and that they seem to be touring, but it’s unclear to or for what. He also thanked Sumerian Records, hinting that label is behind the band and may have already signed them. We are excited to see what music this group can make and we will post updates when we can. Acclaimed guitarist for Lamb Of God, Mark Morton will release his debut solo album on March 1st, 2019th. Anesthetic will be a collaborative album bringing stars from across rock and metal such as his bandmate D. Chthonic – Battlefields Of Asura
In their time away from the music scene, life has been busy for Taiwanese act Chthonic. Five years have passed since their last studio album Bú-Tik (Spinefarm), and family has played a large part, most notably with married couple, bassist Doris Yeh and vocalist Freddy Lim, having a baby last year. Having also taken up politics, Lim swapped his stage make-up and black leather for a nice clean suit and tie, his progressive New Power Party, formed in 2015, becoming elected into the Taiwanese Parliament in January this year.Continue reading

It has been a slow but steady build for Southampton metalcore band Bury Tomorrow. They have been around for longer than most people might actually think, releasing debut album Portraits (Basick) way back in 2009 and they have always been just behind the forefront of the scene in the UK and indeed mainland Europe, where they have a sizeable following but never quite breaking through into that next echelon. You may or may not cringe when people say “everything’s been done before” depending on your taste in music. Fans can be a jaded lot, and there is so much noise to cut through to find new sounds to rock out to, it’s understandable to hesitance to think outside your typical playlists. Devildriver in their career have been nothing, but resilient, consistent, and heavy. Their cover of ‘Sail’ by AWOLNATION proved they could get out of their comfort zone, and impress.
