Metal Allegiance is entering their second decade together, and unlike most other metal supergroups or collaborations, Metal Allegiance continues stronger – and heavier – than ever. Beginning as a celebration of heavy metal, Metal Allegiance is powered by the almost tribal bond shared between the extreme music community’s most revered trailblazers, armed with a list of contributors onstage (and off) that read like a Wikipedia entry on the genre itself –whose “core 4” is comprised of David Ellefson, Mark Menghi, Alex Skolnick, and Mike Portnoy. On Thursday, January 23, 2025, the band – which in addition to the core 4, will also include Chuck Billy (Testament), Bobby Blitz (Overkill), John Bush (Armored Saint), Doc Coyle (Bad Wolves & God Forbid), Brandon Ellis (The Black Dahlia Murder), Marty Friedman, Gary Holt (Slayer / Exodus), Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), Jeff Loomis, Mark Tornillo (Accept), Angel Vivaldi and more – will perform at what has become an annual event for the band at the House of Blues (400 Disney Way) in Anaheim, CA. ALBUM REVIEW: Nita Strauss – The Call Of The Void
She came, she saw, she conquered. “VIC-TOR-IOUS.” The Call Of The Void (Sumerian Records) is two albums in one – a superior instrumental guitar album, full of class and charisma, setting off sparks of shredded steel and nickel – and an above average, rock/blues rock/modern metal album, with one foot in the past and two eyes looking to the future, graced by some fine guest stars, including Alice Cooper, David Draiman, and Anders Friden.
ALBUM REVIEW: Outlanders – Outlanders
When an album features Al Di Meola, Trevor Rabin, Vernon Reid, Joe Satriani, and Marty Friedman you know it’s going to be a corker. To make this reviewer squeeze with joy is that Outlanders is actually Tarja Turunen. Tarja is accompanied by Torsten Stenzel.

Megadeth performed in Japan this weekend, their first time back in the country for a tour since 2017. In a worldwide livestream event, the band played at the prestigious Nippon Budokan venue, made famous for performances by Cheap Trick, Ozzy Osburne, KISS, and others. Joined by former lead guitarist Mary Friedman, who is a huge celebrity host and artist in Japan, they performed three classic Friedman-era tracks “Countdown to Extinction” (first time since 2013), “Tornado of Souls” and “Symphony of Destruction!” Marty was a member of Megadeth for 10 years and five albums and on EP, several hits from movie soundtracks, and the band had 10 million records sold in that era.
