Desertfest London proudly welcomes the legendary Suicidal Tendencies to their 2024 event as Roundhouse headliners. Celebrating 40 years since their genre-defying first album, prepare to have your mind Institutionalized! Whilst Desertfest remains synonymous with showcasing the best of stoner, doom and psych for over twelve years, Suicidal Tendencies’ headlining performance will add a new dimension to the festival, bridging the gap between the punk and metal scenes that have inspired countless bands worldwide. Marc Urselli’s Steppendoom present their unique take on Soundgarden’s doomy classic “4th of July”. This beautifully strange rendition features an actual member of Soundgarden in drummer Matt Cameron (also Pearl Jam) as well as Igor Sydorenko of Ukraine’s Stoned Jesus, multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes (Chris Cornell solo, Queens Of The Stone Age, Eleven, Them Crooked Vultures) and throat singers Utelo and the legendary Albert Kuvezin (of Tuvan throat singing collective YAT-KHA).

Magnetic Eye Records Announces Soundgarden Superunknown Redux and Best of Soundgarden Releases

Magnetic Eye Records have announced the next installment in their acclaimed Redux Series of cover versions honouring legendary rock classics with a pair of double albums paying tribute to grunge gods Soundgarden in the form of “Superunknown Redux” and “Best of Soundgarden Redux”. Following established tradition, the label is presenting the project first with a Kickstarter campaign, and today reveals the inclusion of a track featuring an actual member of Soundgarden, in the form of drummer Matt Cameron contributing to a cover by doom metal meets throat singing project Marc Urselli’s STEPPENDOOM. Alongside Cameron are guitarist Alain Johannes (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, ELEVEN), and STONED JESUS vocalist Igor Sydorenko as well as throat singers Albert Kuvezin (YAT-KHA) and Utelo.

ALBUM REVIEW: Acid King – Beyond Vision

Beyond Vision (Blues Funeral Recordings) marks Acid King‘s fifth full-length album to date and its thirtieth anniversary as a band since their formation. It’s also the follow-up to 2015’s overlooked Middle of Nowhere, Centre of Everything album which Lori referred to in a recent interview on Conan Neutron‘s Protonic Reversal show with a hope of reissuing it at some point.
