CONCERT REVIEW: Biohazard – Indecision – King Nine Live at Irving Plaza

Irving Plaza in New York City was the home for what I called the “New Yorkers only night” of the sold-out reunion shows of Hardcore Punk and Heavy Metal Crossover legends, Biohazard. This night kicked off with Long Island’s own King Nine, who were new to my ears. Known for their abrasive, heavy sound, took to the stage with ferocity, that set a ferocious tone for the evening. They proved captivating with their blend of abrasive vocals and abrasive riffs, reminding the crowd why they have earned their spot on the stage tonight.Continue reading

Despite their name, Chicago’s newly formed Ready for Death offer more of a hardcore and thrash style in their debut offering. With 10 tracks and a run time of a little over 20 minutes, their self-titled debut on Translation Loss offers plenty of furious tales about chaos and destruction in a compact package.

Indecision Screening ‘What It Once Meant’ Documentary at St Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY

indecision what it once meant

Brooklyn hardcore band Indecision will be screening their documentary What it Once Meant on January 25, 2015 at St. Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY. View the trailer here.

Indecision’s What It Once Meant documentary, directed by Derek Morse and edited by Rob Soucy (The Alkaline Trio, Defeater, Vanna), explores the life and times of the Brooklyn hardcore band with an inside look at the band’s journey while touring in the 90’s. Indecision started in 1993 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, touring full time until 2000 when the band imploded in the middle of the tour in the desert city of El Paso, TX. In 2006, the band reunited for a one off show at the Superbowl of Hardcore in New York and the band has been playing a few shows per year ever since.

MorseCode Recordings will be releasing the DVD, which includes the feature length documentary, a multi camera show from The Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, and deleted scenes.

nemhfmiwpressrelease_3

New England Metal And Hardcore Festival has announced Motionless In White as the Sunday headliner to the seventeenth edition of the fest. The event is held at The Palladium in Worcester, MA on April 17, 18 and 19, 2015.

Vocalist Chris Cerulli states, “One of my favorite DVD’s in my collection has always been the 2003 New England Metal and Hardcore Fest DVD. Back then the metal and hardcore world was so stacked with a seemingly endless roster of legendary bands. Needless to say, it’s an incredibly huge honor to be headlining a day on this festival twelve years later after the first time I saw that DVD and after all these years how the fest has proven itself to be an unstoppable force. We hope to add in making this another successful year representing metal and hardcore in New England.”
