ALBUM REVIEW: Armed for Apocalypse – Ritual Violence
How to best describe what Armed for Apocalypse’s Ritual Violence (Candlelight Records) sounds like? While I’ve never had the pleasure, I imagine it’s much like jamming a knife into an electrical outlet. Not sure if that analogy will work for everyone. Well, it’s like witnessing the centerpiece car wreck from Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. Shit, barely anyone saw that movie. Just know that it’s abrasive and the average listener should approach with upmost caution.

Some details such as the track listing are available, with the first new music hopefully coming soon. Occultation Releasing Silence In The Ancestral Houseout For North America Via 20 Buck Spin
Occultation is releasing their second full length album Silence In The Ancestral Houseout via 20 Buck Spin in North America.
Under the light of the moon, Occultation creeps, crawls and crushes like a many-tentacled abomination using seductive power and hypnotic conjuring on the nine curses contained within. Captured from air in a far more powerful and convincing manner than ever before by Kurt Ballou at God City Studios, the band strikes a mood both sombre and grim, reflecting a contorted, wrecked expression in a cracked mirror through eminently listenable heavy metal sorcery.
Occultation Live:
Mar 22: Saint Vitus Bar – Brooklyn, NY (w/ Dispirit)
Mar 25-29: Treefort Music Festival – Boise, ID

Kvelertak – Meir
Norse trailblazers Kvelertak split open the metal scene with their incendiary self titled debut not to mention a fierce reputation on the live front. A mash up of furious punk rock, searing black metal and rock n’ roll swagger the first record was indeed something very special. Having returned to Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou and God City studios for this sophomore effort Meir contains all the characteristic of what made Kvelertak such a shot in the arm.Continue reading
