At first, one might think, “What the hell?” But those who are die-hard Tull fans or just super fans of Christmas albums will remember this is not the band’s first venture into the realm of holiday music. The Jethro Tull Christmas Album—Fresh Snow At Christmas showcases the band’s love for the holiday season. Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Vosforis – Cosmic Cenotaph
Hello friends, hope all is well, let’s dive right in.
This week on the block we have, hailing from the U.K., Voforis with their debut cut Cosmic Cenotaph (Inner Hell Records). Studying up on this one, the project is led by Simon White, and I learned he is joined by former Cradle of Filth members such as guitarist Richard Shaw, vocalist/keys player Anabelle Iratni, drummer Adrian Erlandsson (also of At The Gates and The Haunted) on one track, and famed Cradle producer Russ Russell, so I went in with some preconceptions as to what I was in store for. ALBUM REVIEW: Bedsore – Dreaming The Strife For Love
Hello friends, quick question, what do you get when you mix prog rock with metal? Well short answer, you get the Italian based band Bedsore. This statement, although true falls very short though, of defining what this band is presenting on their new cut Dreaming The Strife For Love (20 Buck Spin.)Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Defeated Sanity – Chronicles Of Lunacy
I do not get to hear many albums that make me want to be better at my instrument. The new cut from Defeated Sanity did this; I felt compelled to go practice. Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Opeth – The Last Will and Testament
Rejoice, fellow death metal fans, Opeth has brought back the harsh vocals! That’s right. Mikael Ackerfeldt and company figured now was the time, as their new album, The Last Will & Testament (Reigning Phoenix Music), has the perfect concept to complement it. The reading of a post-World War 1 patriarch’s last will and testament that spills out family secrets, track by track, section by section of the document (the first seven tracks are named simply after which paragraph is being recited). In terms of instrumentals, this album is my favorite mix of the melodic death metal era of Opeth and the more recent prog-rock era of the band.Continue reading
ALBUM REVIEW: Grylle – Egrotants, Souffreteux, Cacochymes, Covidards
In any genre, there’s always at least one act who feel they need to take things further than the rest. The fastest Speed Metal, the slowest Doom Metal, the shortest Grindcore. Add an inexplicable desire for self-imposed rules such as no keyboards, no clean singing etc. – voluntary limitations that usually end up getting sidestepped at some point anyway – and you either have a recipe for disaster or one for success.Continue reading
