Despite this being only their sophomore release, the emo rock outfit’s previous release, A Moment Of Silence was released almost a decade ago. Since then, The Funeral Portrait have been hard at work, honing their craft putting out singles here and there, all culminating with their second album, Greetings From Suffocate City. Looking to spin a tale across the album, the band are bringing theatrical charm and themes into their works. ALBUM REVIEW: Ibaraki – Rashomon


Ibaraki is the new solo project from Trivium’s Matt Heafy, and Rashomon is released through Nuclear Blast, having been over a decade in the making. The name translates as “Wild Trees”, but is also taken from a terrifying Japanese demon of feudal legend, and the concept is a profound affirmation of Heafy’s Japanese-American heritage, incorporating a number of different musical styles. Although the main inspiration clearly sits within the black etal genre, taking influence from the experience of Emperor’s Ihsahn, who co-produced, and whose quirkier ideas from his solo work are peppered throughout the release. VAMPS Releasing Bloodsuckers on March 24th

Japanese dark rock outfit VAMPS,featuring Hyde (L’Arc~en~Ciel) and K.A.Z (Oblivion Dust), will release a new studio album Bloodsuckers via Spinefarm Records on March 24, 2015.

This 13 track release-produced by VAMPS and Josh Wilbur (whose previous credits include Gojira and Lamb of God) and housed in the artwork of mysterious Japanese artist Rockin’ Jelly Bean-is the follow-up to Sex Blood Rock N’ Roll, released in 2013.

Songs on Bloodsuckers include “World’s End,” a UK single in 2014, and used in the Sony campaign for the Xperia UK mobile), “Get Away,” “Replay,” “The Jolly Roger,” and “Vampire’s Love,” which is not just a Top 3 single in Japan but also the song selected to launch Hollywood blockbuster, Dracula Untold, in that market.

It’s no surprise then that the album has already been a Top 5 success in Japan.

Most recently, they completed a run of dates in Japan (33 shows to 65,000 people), climaxing with a worldwide webcast of their Zepp Tokyo show on January 25.

Next, on February 18 + 19, VAMPS will be hosting and headlining their own festival, VAMPARK FEST, set to take place at the legendary Nippon Budokan in Tokyo; the bill will be completed by special guests Sixx:A.M., plus Buckcherry, Gerard Way and Nothing More.
