Following on from last year’s incredible and sold out (and probably best so far) 10th Anniversary event, the much loved and mighty award-winning Arctangent Festival returns this summer, and can today reveal another host of amazing acts for the event. To kick things off we have two more headliners for the festival. Firstly playing their first ever ATG are Norwegian band Wardruna, who will be bringing their Norse musical interpretations and traditions to the festival as our Wednesday night headliners. With this incredible band now in place, the Wednesday for this year’s Arctangent Festival will be its biggest ever, with more stages open to accomodate, but still no clashes! Then we have the brilliant UK prog rock band Tesseract, who will be returning to ATG and headlining the main stage on Saturday this year, closing out an intense two year touring period of their album War Of Being. In addition to a host of new bands added to the fest, special sets Include – Between The Buried In Me (Playing 2 Sets), Fall Of Troy (Playing Doppelganger In Full), and We Lost The Sea (Playing 2 Sets)!Continue reading

FESTIVAL REVIEW: Radar Festival 2024 – Part 2 Live at O2 Victoria Warehouse
Sunday
The final day commences, and although there has been some hiccups in the form of bands dropping out (Oxymorrons and Siamese), this was fixed instantly with replacement acts Mike Dawese and Pintglass. Pintglass, who stepped up to the task having only performed the afterparty the night prior. Rock-influenced metalcore quintet, Ashen were first to take to the main stage. Displaying an eclectic mix of melodic metalcore tracks, with giant choruses. Whilst having only visited the UK once for their last tour, the French band were determined to leave a mark, performing a unique cover of Nirvana’s iconic single “Smells Like Teen Spirit” getting the early bird crowds to sing in unison, with Ashen’s frontman Clem Richard, who put on one of the best vocal performances of the weekend.Continue reading

FESTIVAL REVIEW: ArcTanGent Festival 2023 Live at Fernhill Farm
ArcTanGent Festival, a yearly outdoor four-day fixture at Fernhill Farm near Bristol, attracts a devoted following to its niche yet eclectic lineups of artists who generally have an association with post-rock, progressive metal, or experimental rock. It’s “sort of” a metal festival, but the range of acts it showcases steers towards the more left-field and eccentric end of heavy music and at times stretches beyond what could reasonably even be labelled as “rock”.

ALBUM REVIEW: Conjurer – Páthos
I like to listen to music while in the car and it so just happens that one of my side hustles involves me spending a lot of time in my Volvo driving about. What, did you think that writing alone pays the bills? In this economy? Today I found myself listening to Conjurer’s latest LP, Páthos (Nuclear Blast), while doing the usual of routine of picking up packages and dropping them off elsewhere. Conjurer was working nicely for me, but I recall the confused look etched on the young woman’s face who gave me my coffee at the Dunkin’ drive-through.
