Primordial Play at Maryland Deathfest, US Tour Dates with Bloodbath, Archgoat, and Severe Torture This Week



Dublin-based pagan metal legends, Primordial, performed at the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore, Maryland on May 26th. The festival appearance will then be followed by four special shows supporting Bloodbath. The short live run begins on May 28th in Chicago, continuing through Seattle, Mesa, and Los Angeles. Primordial are touring in continued support of their latest Metal Blade Records album, How It Ends. Additional support comes from Archgoat and Severe Torture. True Norwegian black metal pioneer Mayhem will be performing two very special 40th anniversary sets in their hometown of Oslo (NO) at Sentrum Scene on Friday, May 10, and Saturday, May 11, with the first night already entirely SOLD OUT! INTERVIEW: Tommy Victor of Prong on Their Next Album, Touring with Danzig, and More


Ghost Cult caught up with frequent interviewee and metal legend Tommy Victor of Prong!  We were at Aftershock festival where Tommy was doing double duty with Prong and Danzig this weekend. Tommy discussed touring with his own band and Danzig, the US festival circuit, performing an album in full live versus a legacy “hits” set, the challenges of playing the classic Danzig guitar solos by John Christ, the progress of the new Prong album, and more!

Maryland Deathfest to Return in 2024

In a statement posted on social media, Maryland Deathfest has announced they will return! After a hiatus for 2023 the fest will return from May 23rd to May 26th, 2024. In a message to fans the co-founders of MDF discussed the hiatus and the the return as well as new dates for 2024. MDF 2024 will be their 20th fest in Baltimore. They did announce that aftert the upcoming London Desertfest, they are discontinuing all other festivals they have put on, Netherlands Deathfest, California Deathfest, and more will be no more. MDF has operated for almost 20 years, put on 19 fests, and expanded to a global footprint, all while giving a greater voice to Death Metal, Avant-Garde Metal, Stoner Doom, and more genres, perhaps as much or more than any fest in the world.  Continue reading

Maryland Deathfest is Postponed Once Again, Now Booked for 2022

As we are starting to see the cancelations and postponements of tours and festivals for the summer of 2021, the list of rebooked fests is beginning to grow. Maryland Deathfest has forgone attempting to host a 2021 festival and instead will take place next in 2022. The festival made an announcement on social media detailing its plans.

Maryland Death Fest Cancels 2020, and Rebooks 90% of the Bands for 2021


 

Maryland Deathfest organizers postponed this year’s festival. They have just announced new dates for 2021 (May 27-30, 2021) and revealed that almost the full 2020 lineup will play.
