I was familiar with Drain thanks to them being name-dropped by fellow Santa Cruz Hardcore outfit Scowl, whose Psychic Dance Routine EP I had the good fortune of reviewing recently. Therefore when the promo list came round and I spotted Living Proof (Epitaph Records) on there, it was simply too good an opportunity to pass up.

When we last heard of our New York heroes in All Out War they were still practicing a charged-up, violent brand of Metallic Hardcore on 2019’s Crawl Among the Filth. Yet it’s now 2023 and a global pandemic later and those gentlemen are again picking up that metallic mantle like it never went out of fashion on Celestial Rot (Translation Loss Records).

We chatted with Punk/Hardcore Label Founder and Entrepreneur Andrew Thorp King! His new book FAILURE RULES!: The 5 Rules of Failure for Entrepreneurs, Creatives, and Authentics is out now via Lioncrest Publishing. Andrew discussed what led him to writing the book, his career in the Punk scene as a label founder and band manager – putting out records from Madball, Blood for Blood, US Bombs, and more –  through his many business endevours – success and failures and what he learned along the way.  He also discussed his curated soundtrack that accompanies the book and inspirations.

The event was originally scheduled to take place on October 20 and 21 in Las Vegas at Rockstar Bar – Concert On The Green.is set to take place in Las Vegas, NV on Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21 at Rockstar Bar – Concert On The Green. The festival was to feature headlining performances from Black Flag, Madball, Secondhand Serenade and Every Avenue, the 18+ festival will cater to fans of punk rock, emo, and metal with some of the scene’s most popular acts from the past immersed with new up-and-coming talent.

When We Were Hungry Festival will take place in Las Vegas, NV on Thursday, October 20 and Friday, October 21 at the 3,000-capacity venue Rockstar Bar – Concert On The Green. The festival will highlight independent-focused acts that represent a who’s-who of the past and present rock, metal, punk and emo scene.
