When it comes to musical acts, Eluveitie is a bit of an anomaly.

Created nearly twenty-five years ago, the Melodic Folk Metal band has a literal laundry list of former members and only has one musician who has been there since day one. Kerry King (Slayer) to Play and Exclusive London Headline Show This June


With his solo debut album, From Hell I Rise, set for a May 17 release (Reigning Phoenix Music), Kerry King has announced his first UK headline show for London’s Electric Ballroom for Tuesday 18th June. Tickets are on sale at 10am today (17th April) at the Live Nation ticket store. The show will come in the wake of his first ever UK solo band appearance at Download Festival at Donington Park on Sunday 16th June. This comes on the heels of the new single and video for “Residue,” co-directed by Jim Louvau and his partner Tony Aguilera, who have made videos for Jerry Cantrell, Sebastian Bach, Exodus, and Killer Be Killed. The video was shot at their downtown Phoenix studio in early April, and features King’s new band – Mark Osegueda/vocals, Phil Demmel/guitar, Kyle Sanders/bass, and drummer Paul Bostaph. Today marks the release of the quasi-psychedelic visualizer for the newly remastered track “Dumb” from the upcoming 30th anniversary reissue of Nirvana’s In Utero. Directed and created by RuffMercy from hand-painted Super-8mm film. Also available is the digital single “Pennyroyal Tea” (Live in Los Angeles)” + “Scentless Apprentice” (Live in Seattle)” — Released September 29, these live renditions of In Utero classics are the first of 53 previously unreleased tracks included in the three Super Deluxe editions of the In Utero 30th anniversary multi-format reissues arriving on October 27, 2023. ALBUM REVIEW: Church Of The Dead – Beyond Death


 

Church of the Dead are ready to release more crushing old-school Death Metal with their second album Beyond Death (Redefining Darkness). The band does a terrific job of infusing several different styles into their classic death metal assault, black metal, some light synths, and even some punk rock are all thrown into the mix. The results leave a riff-heavy album that relies more on sheer power and brutality than any over-the-top theatrics.

ALBUM REVIEW: Drott – Troll


 

On Troll (By Norse Music) Drott draws from Scandinavian folklore to create a soundtrack for the listener to inhabit a dank, murky forest, with the eponymous troll close enough that you can smell it, delivered via dark, slightly campy electronic rock soundscapes that would feel totally in place in a (not too scary) fantasy/ horror movie. Continue reading
