ALBUM REVIEW: Cave In – Heavy Pendulum


Released some twenty-five years into a career that saw them burst out of the east-coast hardcore scene in the mid nineties, Heavy Pendulum (Relapse Records) is Cave In’s seventh album, and is a landmark release for the band who sadly lost their bass player Caleb Schofield to a car accident in 2018. Schofield also provided many of Cave In’s heavier vocals, and his role in the band is assumed by close friend Nate Newton (Converge, Deathriders), and who also has a mean voice himself.

CONCERT REVIEW: Mammoth WVH – Dirty Honey at Big Night Live


The Young Guns Tour made a much-anticipated stop at Big Night Live in Boston Massachusetts featuring Mammoth WVH and Dirty Honey. The two up-and-coming rock bands treated the crowd to blistering sets of no-nonsense rock ‘n’ roll. Each band is out on the road supporting their debut albums that were released in 2021.

Joey Jordison of Slipknot and Jon Zazula Get Snubbed by The Grammy Awards’ “In Memoriam” Segment


With all the excitement The Grammy Awards provide every year,  Metal fans are always reminded we matter less than Pop stars. While a great standalone tribe acknowledged Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away at 50 on March 25th,  the televised portion of the Grammy Awards ceremony’s “In Memoriam” segment omitted mention of Metal legends Joey Jordison of Slipknot, and Jon Zazula founder of discoverer of Metallica and founder Megaforce Records. Also omitted, Moody Blues co-founder Graeme Edge. The Recording Academy listed those left out ofthe broadcast along with several hundred other musicians and industry leaders that passed away on the Grammy.com web site under the “The Recording Academy Remembers The Music People We’ve Lost: Grammy In Memoriam” section. The 64th Grammy Awards took place Sunday, April 3, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and were broadcast live on CBS, and hosted by Trevor Noah. Foo Fighters, Dream Theater, and St. Vincent Win Rock, Metal and Alternative Awards at the 64th Annual Grammys


Foo Fighters, Dream Theater, and St. Vincent ran the table of the heavy music awards at the 64th annual Grammy Awards. Foo Fighters cleaned up in the Rock categories winning Best Rock Performance for “Making a Fire” and Best Rock Song for “Waiting On A War” – and Best Rock Album for 2021’s Medicine At Midnight (Roswell Records). The award is a posthumous accolade for drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away on March 25th. Long-running legendary prog metal band Dream Theater won for best Metal Performance for “The Alien” from their album “A View From The Top Of The World” released last fall 2021 (InsideOut Music). The band beat the most crowded field in the rock categories including Deftones, Mastodon, Gojira, and Rob Zombie, all past winners. St. Vincent won for Best Alternative Music Album Vocal or Instrumental for the song “Daddy’s Home.”

Foo Fighters Cancel All Upcoming Tour Dates Following The Death of Taylor Hawkins 


Foo Fighters have officially canceled all of their previously tour dates and festivals following the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins, at age 50 last week.The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame band was scheduled for a full year of dates and fests, following the release of 2021’s Medicine At Midnight (Roswell Records), the release of their recent film Studio 666, and their missed 25th Anniversary as a band in 2020.. Earlier today, the band released a statement to social media. Hawkins died at a hotel in Bogota, Colombia on Friday (March 25th, 2022). Local officials said an ambulance was sent to the hotel after a man reported having chest pains.The band was scheduled to perform Friday at the Picnic Stereo (Estero Fest) festival in Bogota, but their performance was canceled.The band played Lollapalooza Chile on March 18 and Lollapalooza Argentina on March 20. They were scheduled to headline Lollapalooza Brasil on Sunday, March 27th, 2022:

Foo Fighters have released a thrashy new song titled “March Of The Insane”. The track, which was made available under the band moniker Dream Widow, is featured in Foo Fighters’ upcoming horror-comedy Studio 666 releasing soon. Dave Grohl is a huge heavy metal fan, as evidenced by his solo metal project Probot.
