INTERVIEW: Richard Johnson of Drugs of Faith Talks Virginia Band’s New Album “Asymmetrical”

Richard Johnson, Ivan Khilko, and Ethan Griffiths have been the stable line-up for Virginia’s rollicking Drugs of Faith for a while now. Not only does the band have one of the coolest names in rock and metal, they have also never put out anything that wasn’t essential. The pattern continues with Asymmetrical, perhaps the unit’s most crackling and timely release to date. Out Feb. 21st via Selfmadegod Records, this album finds the grind n’ roll band asserting even more dissonance, precision, riff-perfection, noise grit, and concerned realism into their fierce sound. Hivesmasher Plots Return, Books Brooklyn Show With Enemy Soil

One of the best grindcore bands ever, Hivesmasher has un-retired and are possibly teasing new music. The band started hinting at an announcement on Facebook with updated images and new merch on their webstore. The major announcement is a return to live performances with an August 18th show at Brooklyn Bazaar in New York, They will be direct support of Enemy Soil, who wowed us at Maryland Deathfest 2018. Maryland Deathfest 2018 – Baltimore Maryland

For a metal fan, especially an underground metal fan with a cultured taste, Maryland Deathfest is the holy grail of music festivals. They are metal fans, so they understand metal fans. It has grown by leaps and bounds like a little cottage industry with California Deathfest, Quebec Deathfest, Netherlands Deathfest, Days of Darkness and more to come I’m sure. As I attended my first ever full weekend, I saw incredible bands on my bucket list, met a lot of great people from all over the world, hung out with friends and basically had more fun than I could imagine. It was basically summer camp for die-hard metal fans. No judgments, no fights, no fake kung fu in the mosh pit, just all awesomeness 24/7. Fun for families and even dogs.
