ALBUM REVIEW: Old Blood – Acid Doom


It’s oddly satisfying when an album’s title is also an accurate descriptor for the music it contains. This is more or less the case with Old Blood’s second full-length album, Acid Doom (DHU Records/Metal Assault Records). While the group’s style may not be crushing in the traditional sense, their brand of Heavy Psych has a dark sultriness that should sit well with fans of groups like Uncle Acid and Blood Ceremony. And considering the four-year gap since their self-titled debut, it’s fair to say that things have only gotten more off-the-wall in that time.

Kyuss Released Their Final Album “And The Circus Leaves Town” 25 Years Ago


Kyuss continues to cast a large shadow over the stoner doom scene that is perpetual and ever-changing. This truth is no more certain than the shadow they cast over themselves and having to live up the expectations they set. Coming out of nowhere (really the Palm Desert in California), the band set the template for the genre with Blues For The Red Sun (Dali) and Welcome To Sky Valley (Elecktra), but were always going to be hard-pressed to keep that pace. Looking back on their final album And The Circus Leaves Town (Elecktra), it may have not have lived up to its lofty older sisters, but it has some gems that maybe were not appreciated at the time since the band was disintegrating. Vandals Tried To Steal The“Welcome to Sky Valley” Sign Made Famous by Kyuss


The infamous Welcome To Sky Valley highway sign, from the classic Kyuss album of the same name from 1994, was almost stolen this week. The sign is located on Dillon Road in Desert Hot Springs, California and frequently sees fans drive by to visit the place that birthed Kyuss and really the entire Palm Desert scene movement. In a post to Facebook, Kyuss member Scott Reeder shared about how vandals tried to steal the sign this week and added a photo of him repairing the sign. Crazy. Continue reading
