CONCERT REVIEW: Iron Maiden – Within Temptation Live at The DCU Center


 

Iron Maiden brought its Legacy of the Beast world tour to the DCU Center in Worcester Massachusetts on October 17th. On this cold, rainy night thousands of Maiden fans were treated to an amazing show. Tour openers Within Temptation started the evening off with a powerful performance as the arena was filling to capacity. Vocalist Sharon den Adel’s phenomenal vocal range and stage presence got the audience amped up. Playing songs off their last album Resist,  fans sang along as loud as they could. I had never seen Within Temptation before tonight, but they absolutely gained a new fan.

Rock and Shock Festival Disbands


Sad news on the Festival and Convention front as the long-running Rock and Shock Festival in Worcester, Massachusetts has disbanded after 15 years. The announcement was made in a post to social media about the festival canceling all further festivals. The fest paired the best Horror convention and concert series in the USA and made use of both the famous Worcester Palladium venue and the convention center at the DCU Center up the block. Ghost Cult covered many Rock N Shock fests which featured incredible conventions, horror celebrities, amazing vendors , indie films,  headliners such as Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Disturbed, Danzig (including a pre-reunion Misfits headline set with Doyle), ICP, Ministry, GWAR, King Diamond, Type O Negative, Lordi, Disturbed,  Mushroomhead, Voivod, Amorphis, Twiztid, Dark Tranquility, Hatebreed, Devildriver, Motionless In White, Death Grips, Superjoint, Wednesday 13, Sabaton, Prong, Witch Mountain, Sanctuary, Soilwork, OTEP, Shadows Fall, God Forbid, Cavalera, Conspiracy, Anthrax, Overkill, Misfits, and more!Continue reading


Megadeth – Amon Amarth – Suicidal Tendencies: Live At The DCU Center

Megadeth continues their resurgence for their current album Dystopia (Tradecraft). Bolstered by the recent addition of former Soilwork drummer Dirk Verbeuren, Dave Mustaine and company sound amazing live these days from the few times we’ve caught their act in 2016. To pull off a tour of this magnitude (small arenas) in this day an age where some bands are struggling to fill small clubs is admirable. Openers Butcher Babies and Metal Church certainly have their own crowds of fans, but the three main acts couldn’t be better or more evenly matched. Continue reading


Rock N Shock Announces Hatebreed, Soulfly, Sanctuary and Soilwork

The 12th edition of the annual Rock and Shock Festival has announced its first wave of musical acts for 2015, taking the stage at The Worcester Palladium in Worcester MA. Hatebreed will be the headliner, performing a special 20th anniversary, retrospective set. They will be joined by Soulfly, Sanctuary, Soilwork, Decapitated, Shattered Sun, Brick By Brick, Crumbsuckers, Get Scared, Eyes Set To Kill, The Rocking Dead, New Volume, Twiztid, Blaze, Boondox, Prozak, Wolfpac, Scum, Kissing Candice, and more bands tbd. This is added to the acclaimed horror convention portion of the event taking place at the DCU Center next door, headlined by film legend George A. Romero, actor Doug Bradley, American Horror Story actress Naomi Grossman, WWF Wrestling legend Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka and more.
