CONCERT REVIEW: Knotfest Roadshow – Slipknot – In This Moment – Wage War: Live at The Resch Center

After Wednesday night’s epic show at The Resch Center, I have a new definition of the word brutal. Slipknot rolled into town and brought the Knotfest Roadshow with them.  Alongside Slipknot was Wage War and In This Moment.Continue reading

CONCERT REVIEW: Dragonforce – Firewind – Visions of Atlantis – Seven Spires: Live at Worcester Palladium

October 9th, 2009. That was the last time I saw Dragonforce live, with Sonata Arctica and Taking Dawn so needless to say, I was very excited for this show… in the same venue as last time, no less! Added only to the fact that this tour has been on the minds of everyone that originally planned to see it last year when Unleash The Archers were on the bill, but we now have Firewind, Visions of Atlantis, and New England based titans Seven Spires to look forward to. Let’s stop wasting time and get into this symphonic and power-metal night of fun.

CONCERT REVIEW: Ill Niño – Drowning Pool – HED.PE – Evolution Empire: Live at The Gramercy Theater

I took a ride over to the Gramercy Theater in NYC to catch the Brothers In Arms tour featuring Drowning Pool and Ill Niño with support from HED.PE and Evolution Empire. While I have been long time fan of Drowning pool, this was my first time seeing them and any of the bands on this bill.

CONCERT REVIEW: Dropkick Murphys – Jim Lindberg – The Rumjacks – Jesse Ahern Live at Roadrunner

St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Boston. We know this song and dance already, but let’s recap… green beer, parade, inevitable bar fights, Dropkick Murphys show. But this time, there’s a twist to this weekend. The week leading up to the show also marked the grand opening of Boston’s newest concert venue, Roadrunner! Now, truth be told, I had to Google what the hell Roadrunner even was because I had never heard of it before. But let me tell you something… this may be my new favorite venue in the city.

CONCERT REVIEW:  Brit Floyd – Live at The State Theatre

When I last saw Brit Floyd in August, I said that I would gladly see them again.  I did just that on Tuesday night at The State Theatre in New Brunswick NJ.

Over the last two years, the State Theatre took advantage of the downtime forced by the pandemic to completely refurbish the facilities. New carpet, new seats, new bar, new bathrooms…everything has been updated and it looks great. I would swear that the seats are even a bit wider than they were before. Parking is readily available in a public garage just a five minute walk from the venue, and there are tons of restaurants of every type in the immediate area. Continue reading

CONCERT REVIEW: Wardruna – Jo Quail: Live at Manchester Albert Hall

It’s a sight to behold the lengthy queue of hairy Viking looking metalheads snaking around Manchester Albert Hall, assuming of course the snake in question was quite hairy and dressed like a Viking, which I feel is probably stretching the metaphor a bit too far. You’d assume that said hairy, mead quaffing snake (alright, I’ll stop now) was going to be finding its way inside to some sort of very loud and very metal sort of gig. You’d be wrong, as indeed despite the roots of the headliners in Black Metal group Gorgoroth the queue is in fact for the mesmerizing solo cellist Jo Quail, and Nordic Folk legends Wardruna.

CONCERT REVIEW: Wayfarer – Artificial Brain – Glorious Depravity: Live at Saint Vitus Bar

Locals Glorious Depravity featuring members of Woe, Mutilation Rites and Pyhrron started the night off, the last time we checked in with them was shortly before shit hit the fan with the pandemic and this was their first show back since and damn they have tightened up and worked out the kinks.  Looking forward to what they have in store for us in the future.

CONCERT REVIEW: Sepultura – Crowbar – Sacred Reich – Art of Shock Live at The Gramercy Theater

Arriving at Gramercy Theater to finally catch Sepultura on their long-awaited Quadra (Nuclear Blast) tour was a pretty surreal feeling. Not only were we about to catch the legendary Brazilian groove metal masters, but they brought with them an absolutely stellar line-up: LA’s Art Of Shock, New Orleans heavyweights Crowbar, and the recently reunited Phoenix maestros Sacred Reich.

CONCERT REVIEW: Gary Numan – I Speak Machine: Live at The Paradise

The Paradise, Boston, MA 3/14/2022

I have been to quite a few concerts since the world began to re-open and attempt some semblance of normal but so far none have left me with the sense of inspiration and hope the way that the Gary Numan show at The Paradise in Boston has. Not even being crammed into the most challenging venue in the city could crush my spirits. (photographers are not allowed in the barrier and there are few good places just to watch from).Continue reading
