Hear Members of Sanctuary, Nevermore, Chon, and Ghost Ship Octavious Cover Savatage’s “Chance”


If you are a fan of the much loved and missed Savatage, you get precious few chances to hear their music anymore outside of your car, headphones or old record collection. Sanctuary and Witherfall singer Joseph Michael has assembled a collection of peers to pay tribute to the band with a cover of ‘Chance’! Along with Michael the all-star group includes Van Williams (ex-Nevermore, Ghost Ship Octavious), Anthony Crawford (Witherfall, Chon), Joey Concepcion (Sanctuary, Jasta), Alex Nasla (Witherfall) and Will Wallner (White Wizzard). The song is available for purchase and streaming right now, so do it! Michael is currently on tour fronting Sanctuary on the “Refuge Denied” Tour, with Ghost Ship Octavious opening. Chon Kicks Off Headline Tour Tonight, New Album Due This Week


Chon is releasing their new self-titled album this week, via Sumerian Records. The California based prog band has had a busy spring, performing on both weekends at Coachella and Shaky Knees. Riot Fest was started a few years back in the grand spirit of the old school one-off festivals of lore. It was intended to be special from the get-go and they have done a reasonable job of sandwiching themselves into a busy summer of Lollapalooza, Chicago Open Air, and many other destination festival shows. Having a mix of alternative rock, metal, Hip-Hop, indie rock, and more has helped carve out its own niche, and between special performances, varied food and beer options, late-night after parties, and basically the cool factor Chicago offers as one of the best cities in America, it’s no wonder fans flocked to the event from all over the world.Continue reading

Chon – Homey


With the release of their début full-length album Grow (Sumerian) in 2015, Californian’s Chon found themselves standing out from a peer group they were arguably unfairly lumped in. Perhaps due to the Sumerian Records ties, but their début saw them linked to the contemporary Tech/Metalcore scene despite their sound being more technical, but smooth jazz with little to no signs of metal whatsoever. If such pigeonholing was unfair back then, on new album Homey (Sumerian), any comparisons to the like would prove practically absurd.Continue reading
