If you only know William DuVall from his time in Alice In Chains, you might have missed out on his multifaceted musical career spanning over thirty years. From Hardcore Punk, post-Grunge, RnB, and producer of other artists, he has run the gamut of styles, and often making everyone around him glimmer too. That’s why on his debut solo album One Alone, (DVL Records), it’s so refreshing to hear him just as the title indicates and armed only with his singular voice, and acoustic guitar to bring these eleven tracks to life.

Singer William DuVall (Alice In Chains) Books Solo Tour Dates
William DuVall has already made a splash as a solo artist that looks to see him step out from his other gig as the co-lead singer of Alice In Chains. His first solo album, One Alone, is an all-acoustic affair. As William describes it, “I felt the need to peel everything back. This album is strictly one voice, one guitar. It reveals the very core of who I am as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter.” The album’s first single, ‘Til The Light Guides Me Home’, is out now. With the single smashing radio markets big and small markets alike, DuVall will embark on a solo tour this fall. All dates are below.
The Pilgrim – Walking Into The Forest
Gabriele Fiori obviously has too much time on his hands. The Black Rainbows frontman also runs Heavy Psych Sounds Records, and it’s this outlet through which he has chosen to propel new project The Pilgrim, a duo with bandmate Filippo Ragazzoni, toward the masses.Continue reading
Enisum – Moth’s Illusion
When you think of thriving underground metal scenes, Italy may not be the first place that springs to mind; but it is one that is criminally overlooked and that in recent years has become a hotspot for creativity bubbling under the surface. One of the most important players in this scene is the ever-reliably great Avantgarde Music, who have championed and showcased plenty of great Italian acts (as well as from other locales) such as Selvans, Progenie Terrestre Pura and the subject of this review Enisum. Cane Hill – Kill The Sun EP

Rise Against – The Ghost Note Symphonies Vol. 1
In a move that shouldn’t have surprised anyone given the band’s long-standing modesty, the sudden appearance of new music from Rise Against still feels like it came out of nowhere. The Ghost Note Symphonies Vol 1 (Sony), effectively a Rise Against unplugged album, arrives with little if any, fanfare but, as with many Rise Against records, it deserves your quiet and rapt attention as what they have delivered here is a record of quiet grace, emotion, and elan.Continue reading
Lunatic Soul – Under The Fragmented Sky
It is often found that from tremendous despair comes profound and reflective art. It is such a tragedy that seems to hang over the current works of one Mariusz Duda; that being the unexpected death of Riverside guitarist and close friend Piotr Grudziński in 2016. Outside of Riverside, Duda took his own personal grief to creating last years phenomenal Lunatic Soul release, Fractured (Kscope), a release that saw the ambient outfit to new experimental heights across an emotional spectrum from pure desolation to showing signs of hopefulness.Continue reading
Winterfylleth – The Hallowing of Heirdom
“Come live with me and be my love” are not the kind of opening lyrics you expect from a veteran Black Metal band. But in new album, The Hallowing of Heirdom (Candlelight) the UK’s premier Black Metal act Winterfylleth have gone full acoustic. No blast beats, not screaming howls, no buzzsaw riffs. Just beautiful acoustic warmth.Continue reading
Myles Kennedy – Year Of The Tiger
Loss is one of life’s harshest realities that will affect everyone in some way, shape or form. Whether it is family, loved ones, close friends; death is the cruelest of inevitabilities in this most unforgiving of worlds. The grieving process is unique to all of us, in both how we deal with the emotional scarring and in how long recovery takes if indeed, it ever truly does or even begins at all. For some, it can be quick, whilst for others, it may be much longer before acceptance truly takes place. Continue reading
