Every so often, I get a message from the captain here at Ghost Cult to potentially squeeze in a review. Let’s just say, this was an easy “sure thing” when I saw it was the new, self-titled album by The Absence (Listenable Insanity Records).  While it has been a while since I last listened to these Floridian thrash-meets-melodic-death-metalers, the lineup has seen some big changes outside of vocalist Jamie Stewart and returning drummer Jeramie Kling. Skid Row and Erik Grönwall Split,  Lzzy Hale of Halestorm to Fill in for Rebooked Tour Dates


Amazing singer Erik Grönwall and Skid Row have announced they have parted ways. Grönwall sang for Skid Row between 2022 to now and is stepping down purely for health reasons. Otherwise, the split is amicable. Skid Row will be fronted by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm for their remaining few shows this spring, rebopoked from the bands’ bout with COVID-19 last fall. Necrot Books a Headline Tour with Support from BAT, Street Tombs and Phobophillic


Necrot will return to the stage this June on a massive North American headlining tour! The Lifeless Birth Tour 2024 commences on June 5th in Berkeley, California and winds its way through nearly three dozen cities, concluding on July 13th in Portland, Oregon. Support will be provided by Street Tombs as well as BAT and Phobophilic on select dates. Boston progressive death metal band AlphaSix, have shared a new single and lyric video for the track “Orphan! Tether to the Mother” The track will stream on all DSPs on Friday, March 29th, 2024, but you can check it out early here at Ghost Cult! Leaning heavily on Lovecraftian sci-fi horror metal trio’s myth and worldbuilding, the track was also mastered by Jeff Dunne (Ice Nine Kills, Veil of Maya, Brand of Sacrifice, Chelsea Grin, Born of Osiris, Motionless in White, Fit for a King, Make Them Suffer, Silent Planet, Wage War). It was recorded at ASIX Studios in Boston, Massachusetts. The song comes from the Metal power trio’s forthcoming full-length album Assimilate: Oceans album, due later this year. Modern Norse-Folk artist Eivør has announced her new album ENN, releasing June 14th, 2024 via her new label Season of Mist.
