Umbra Vitae, the powerhouse which features Jacob Bannon (Converge), Sean Martin (Twitching Tongues, ex-Hatebreed), Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord), Jon Rice (Uncle Acid, Tsjuder) and Greg Weeks (The Red Chord) have announced their sophomore album, Light Of Death. Set for release on June 7, 2024 via Deathwish Inc., the album was recorded by Kurt Ballou and Zach Weeks at God City Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. Light Of Death emerges with a spine-chilling violin swell before erupting into duel guitar driven madness, and Umbra Vitae stay redlined onto their first single “Belief Is Obsolete,” which premieres today. On the latest edition of The Metallica Podcast, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo swapped Elton John and Bernie Taupin stories ahead of the bands’ performance at The Gershwin Awards. The last two episodes focused on their producer and live performance mixer Greg Fidelman. On this weeks’ episode they also discussed their prior appearance on Howard Stern with Miley Cyrus where Elton called “Nothing Else Matters” from The Black Album is “one of the greatest songs ever written,” infamously making James Hetfield cry. Better Lovers, former featuring members of The Dillinger Escape Plan and Every Time I Die, have been wrapping up work on their eagerly-awaited debut album, return to the road this Spring as a very busy remainder of 2024 kicks off, with numerous North American, European tour dates and festival performances already confirmed. In anticipation of the band’s back-to-back North American and European Spring treks, Better Lovers have released “The Flowering, a three-minute track where the band, once again, demonstrates their explosive energy and the remarkable chemistry the fledgling band already possesses. The song is complemented by a Anthony Altamura-directed video that revels in its campiness, showcasing the five-piece outfit as they confront the less-than-friendly aspects of the natural world.
