FESTIVAL REVIEW: Milwaukee Metal Fest 2024 Part 1 – Live at The Rave

Growing up I had always heard about Milwaukee Metal Fest and how amazing it was. Well, this year I had the pleasure of covering this notoriously famous festival and I can definitely say I’ll be back next year.

The Festivities started off on Thursday night with new edition fest founder Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta’s solo band headlining the pre-party.  Jasta played many songs off his latest solo effort but also had a few legendary guest musicians appear including Steve “Zetro” Souza from Exodus, Bobby Blitz of Overkill, Hoya Roc (Ex-Madball), and Bobby Hammel of Biohazard. The Jasta backing band were fantastic and kept pace throughout the night.

The Friday lineup was a crash course in Power Metal featuring headliners Blind Guardian provided a blistering 45-minute set. I was quite impressed with Doro’s set on the century media stage. That was my first time seeing her since the late eighties in Boston. There was a slew of bands that were my first time seeing including Macabre, Nunslaughter, Visigoth, and Autopsy. Night Demon and Overkill were my favorites of the day. Havok who was on the Marytar Store stage had the most insane crowd of the day. Other Friday favorites were Hammerfall, Kamelot, and Symphony X.
