Video: Crowbar Offers New Album Teaser, The Serpent Only Lies Due This Fall

Long-running New Orleans sludge/doom leaders Crowbar has revealed their new album is due this fall. The Serpent Only Lies is due out from eOne on October 28th. You can watch the new album teaser at this link or below:

Frontman Kirk Windstein comments on the new album:

“We are so excited about our 11th studio record! The Serpent Only Lies is a powerful follow up. Eliran Kantor did a brilliant job with the artwork! Our first release, ‘Falling While Rising’, is Crowbar at its finest… HEAVIER THAN EVER!!!”

The Serpent Only Lies is the follow up to the acclaimmed release Symmetry in Black that sold over 4,000 copies in its first week of release in 2014, the highest of any LPs in the band’s 27 year career, beating 2011’s Sever the Wicked Hand.

Further discussing the album Windstein said “To me, it’s a fresh-sounding version of old-school Crowbar.”

I intentionally went back and listened to a lot of old Crowbar stuff, like the self-titled and Broken Glass albums, to get a feel for what my mindset was 20-plus years ago. I also went back and listened to the bands that influenced Crowbar in the beginning, like Trouble, Saint Vitus, Melvins, and the first Type O Negative record. So it was kinda me doing my homework.”

Even lyrically, the approach was a little more old-school. Some of the songs have less lyrics to let the riffs breathe a little more, which I had kind of gotten away from over the years. It was a conscious thing to go back to that.”

The Serpent Only Lies marks the return of original Crowbar bassist Todd “Sexy T” Strange, who left the band back in 1999. He now now joins Windstein, drummer Tommy Buckley and guitarist Matt Brunson. “Todd helped start the band, so having him back is important to me and, I think, the fans,” said Windstein. “It’s a great feeling to be standing onstage next to him. It’s a breath of fresh air for the band and makes us stronger.”

Metalcore stars Of Mice & Men have debuted the video for their new single ‘Real’. You can watch the video at this link or below:

Of Mice & Men’s are releasing their highly anticipated new album Cold World on September 9th from Rise Records. Real is the bands’ second video in advance of the new album, after the release of first track/video ‘Pain’, which racked up more than 2.1 million YouTube views. The single for ‘Real’ which premiered recently on SiriusXM’s Octane ahead of the video treatment.

Fans can get ‘Pain’ and ‘Real’ as instant grat downloads by pre-ordering the album from the band or .
iTunes:

The video for ‘Real’ is dedicated to the memory of 14-year-old Cassy Colunga, who recently passed away after battling brain cancer. The band first met with Cassy through the Living The Dream Foundation and upon hearing that her condition worsened, arranged for a visit while recording the album. The band and director Max Moore the spent the day with Cassy and her family, brought her to the studio for a preview of the record (she was the first person outside of the band, producer and engineer to hear the album) and recorded her hand-claps for ‘The Lie’, an epic Cold World track that finds frontman Austin Carlile, himself having known the harrows of suffering from a long term illlness venting his frustrations about the medical system and “calling out the one percent for not taking care of the people they should be. “Now Cassy’s name and the sound of her clapping hands are on the record. It’s something that captures that moment and that relationship forever. When we think about everything we went through to make this record, that’s something that we’ll never forget.”

The band worked with The Marfan Foundation, Living The Dream Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and asked fans to submit video footage of themselves holding signs that answered the question, “What makes you feel real?”

Of Mice & Men are finishing out the string of their dates opening for Slipknot and Marilyn Manson wrapping up the remaining dates on their summer arena tour before celebrating the release of Cold World with a string of special album release shows in Los Angeles, New York, Cincinnati and New Orleans. Those performances will see the band performing Cold World live in its entirety for the first time ever. The shows will take place between the band’s scheduled performances at a number of major festivals in the U.S. Tickets are available and bundled with a copy of Cold World. Of Mice & Men’s headlining U.K. tour comes next, kicking off September 30 in Birmingham.

Video: Kosha Dillz Featuring Matisyahu – Dodging Bullets

Indie Hip-Hop star Kosha Dillz has dropped a new video for his single ‘Dodging Bullets’ from his forthcoming new album What I Do All Day & Pickle, releasing July 15th. The track features Matisyahu, who also appears in the video. You can watch the clip at this link or below:

Kosha Dillz commented on the track:

When Matis wrote the hook, it first sounded like ‘dodging bullets’ from war, but I soon learned it was a metaphor for personal relationships. For me, the song has come to represent so much more upon performing it. Every time we play it, it makes you feel different. That is powerful to me.”

Matisyahu also commented, explaining the meaning of the track, referring to “anti-Semitic attacks against Jews and Israelis by the BDS [Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions] movement.” Matisyahu was recently shot at as a result of his stance against BDS.

This particular ‘bullet’ backfired on the BDS movement, as Jews and non-Jews spoke up about the injustice of the only publicly recognized Jew on the festival lineup being called out to promote a political agenda. The outcry from fans of all backgrounds grew loud enough that even the country of Spain itself denounced the festival for giving into the BDS movement, and as a result, the festival asked me to perform again.

Approximently [one] hundred BDS ‘bullies’ created a pyramid of antagonism trying to block my view of the fans while waiving large Palestinian flags, continually giving me the middle finger, and throwing shoes at me all while holding signs reading insults like ‘Naziyahu,’”
