With the very existence of renowned black metal overlords Helheim, Enslaved, and Gorgoroth, the west coast of Norway undoubtedly always got new enthralling releases to look forward to all year round. The key figures of the Bergen scene truly know what they’re doing, particularly in their respective nichés– and even though it’s not black metal this time, Vulture Industries and their new release Ghosts from the Past (Dark Essence), have gotta be one of the noteworthy releases from Norway’s west coast that everyone ought to keep an eye on.
Norway has always been a hotbed for cutting edge and forward thinking bands. One of the finer examples of this are Bergen-based progressive/avant-garde metal outfit Vulture Industries. Their latest album, entitled The Tower (Season Of Mist), is quite a masterpiece. Ghost Cult caught up with singer Bjørnar E. Nilsen to ask him all about his remarkable band.
Released by Seasons Of Mist, The Tower is Vulture Industries’ third album. It’s also the third round of press that will compare them to Arcturus, which is both fair and unfair concurrently. See, vocalist Bjornar Nilsen sounds like Trickster G/Garm/Kristopher Rygg. A lot. So much so, I actually Googled just to check it wasn’t another alter-ego. It isn’t. We can move on now.
