Un Has Announced Their Immediate Break-Up, New Projects In The Works

Seattle Funeral Doom and Sludge Metal band Un has announced their immediate disbandment. Monte from the band has posted a message to the band Instagram account, laying out the events of the last few months, and future paths for the band members. After two demos, two full-lengths and a split release with Coltsblood, Un was one of the best bands in the underground metal scene coming out of the Pacific Northwest. The bands last full-length was the acclaimed 2018 release Sentiment, via Translation Loss, and their last concert ever was in December in 2023 at the Rain City Doom Fest, opening for Matt Pike solo (High On Fire, Sleep).Continue reading →


ALBUM REVIEW: Re-Buried – Repulsive Nature

It hasn’t taken long for the bright and shiny optimism of the new year to be well and truly soiled by what is sure to be one of the filthiest and repugnant releases of 2023. Hailing from the land of grunge, Seattle, Re-Buried were formed in 2018 and feature bassist Clayton Wolff and drummer Alex Bytnar from sludge/doom act Un. With guitarists Ed Bingaman and Paul Richards providing the stomach churning riffs, the line-up is completed by frontman Chris Pinto, although the vocals on this recording are actually performed by his predecessor Mat Chandler.

Decibel has announced the final bands for their annual Metal and Beer Festival in Philadelphia. The final bands on the bill are Midnight, Gatecreeper and Necrot have joined the lineup of Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly at the Fillmore Philadelphia on April 3-4, 2020. All tickets are on sale now for April. The second edition of their Los Angeles Fest is just weeks away and tickets are moving fast. When I heard about this particular collaboration, I swear a little bit of wee came out. Seattle’s Un is still reveling in the success of last year’s coruscating, moving Sentiment (Translation Loss Records), while Scouse / Scottish hybrid Coltsblood have laid waste to the UK Underground for the last five years.
