Gojira Teases Announcement, New Music Likely Incoming
Gojira is teasing something imminent across their social media. The band has actually been working on new music for years, and the expected follow up to 2016’s Ghost Cult AOTY, Magma (Roadrunner) is expected sooner than later. It looks like we’ll be getting some news soon, hopefully, a new single and album announcement. This is the time of year when most of the pivotal fall releases are announced by now or any day now. Riki Rachtman to Host Code Orange’s “Mudbangers Ball” Livestream on MudTV
As we previously reported, Code Orange will host a new livestream event for fans on July 30th. In a collaborative announcement teaser, Riki Rachtman, the host of the 1990s edition of the Headbangers Ball, Riki will host the Code Orange event MudTV. The band and Riki dropped a teaser, which Riki then explained further on his YouTube channel. According to Riki Code Orange will perform a career-spanning “unplugged” set, and Riki will host, introducing videos and the band. He will introduce a video playlist curated by Code Orange and will feature “a popular band” from France, which we are guessing means Code Orange’s labelmates at Roadrunner Records, Gojira. If figures that other modern and classic bands may factor into the playlist too. Riki will be live in the studio with the band, as he rides to Pittsburgh as part of his Riki’s Ride annual charity event, #RikisRide20. Watch Slipknot Drummer Jay Weinberg Perform a Drum Play-Through for “Nero Forte”
Jay Weinberg, the world-renowned drummer for Slipknot, has shared a drum-playthrough video for Roland Drums for the track “Nero Forte”, from We Are Not Your Kind, out now via Roadrunner Records. The video and audio was recorded backstage at Slipknot’s concert on January 24, 2020, in Birmingham, U.K.In the video below, Weinberg plays along with a well-known favorite, using the V-Drums Acoustic Design VAD506 kit. Jay plays the SLIPKNOT song “Nero Forte”, with original drum track removed, from SD card inserted into the TD-27 module. The audio from the TD-27 module provides the drum sounds and are mixed with the track. Jay’s custom setup uses two VAD506 kits, combined together, to exactly model his acoustic kit setup as played on stage with SLIPKNOT. Two TD-27 modules are tethered together to provide inputs for all pads within the kit. Drum audio is recorded directly from the TD-27 modules into a DAW. Mixing and panning completed in post-production, maintaining the authenticity of the TD-27 module sound.
