GWAR to Release Record Store Day “Death Piggy” Compilation Album


GWAR is preparing a special Record Store Day release, a compilation of the original Death Piggy EPs on are combined here with unreleased and compilation tracks on 180g metallic gold vinyl with experimental etchings, remastered from the original tapes and with liner notes written by the band’s guitarist Russ Bahorsky. Death Piggy was the hardcore punk band that Dave Brockie founded in 1982 that lasted until 1984 before disbanding due to the death of drummer Sean Sumner. Death Piggy was the predecessor to GWAR. Brockie passed away at age 50 in 2014, but GWAR continues today. Continue reading

Robert Trujillo of Metallica and Infectious Grooves has shared a new video for Record Store Day! Trujillo is promoting a new Infectious Grooves 12” album, celebrating the Infectious Grooves reunion release of new music. This will be the first new IG music Trujillo has made with the band in over twenty-five years. The band will help celebrate Record Store Day in France with a special Disquaire Day in France: Infectious Grooves performance, live at Hellfest on June 20! Rodrigo y Gabriela Shares New Cover of Metallica Classic Track “Battery”


Metal-inspired Flamenco guitar masters Rodrigo y Gabriela are releasing a new EP on Record Store Black Friday on 29th November 2019. Mettal. Coming to fans on limited edition vinyl and only available from independent record stores. The EP will contain RodGab takes on classic thrash track such as Megadeth’s ‘Holy Wars’, Slayer’s ‘Seasons In The Abyss’, and Metallica’s ‘Battery’. All three tracks were produced and recorded by Sanchez in Oslo, Norway and finished at the duo’s own Lumbini Studio in Ixtapa, Zihuatenejo, Mexico. METTAL EP was mixed by Jim Monti (Slipknot, Metallica, KoRN) and then mastered by GRAMMY® Award-winner Ted Jensen (Bring Me The Horizon, Disturbed, Halestorm) at Sterling Sound, Nashville. Beastie Boys are Releasing a Special “Sabotage” RSD3 3-Inch Single


Beastie Boys recently celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of their Ill Communication (Grand Royal) album. The band is now releasing a special single version of their classic track ‘Sabotage’ as a RSD3 3-inch. The release date is July 19, 2019, and the initial pressing is limited to 2500 items. The RSD3 mini-turntable record players were a special collaboration made in conjunction with Record Store Day 2019 and players can be bought at participating dealers. Sunn O))) Books Record Store Day Listening Event, “Life Metal” Album Coming Soon


Sunn O))) will host a U.S. listening session in addition to their events in London and Paris in the lead up to the release of Life Metal, due out April 26th, via Southern Lord. The listening session will happen on April 13th, in Brooklyn listening session at Future Space in collaboration with Southern Lord Recordings and The Tinnitus Music Series. The experience will feature a tower of loudspeakers, engulfing walls of fog, and throbbing color. This event is free, open to the public and available on a first come, first serve basis. Motörhead To Release Special Record Store Day Double 7″ Single


Beloved and legendary NWOBHM band Motörhead will release a double 7″ single for Record Store Day 2019. The double 7” single features classic tracks ‘Overkill’ and ‘Bomber’! It will be released digitally for the first time ever on March 8, to coincide with its original release date. The BMG label is putting out the release for RSD. 2019 marks the fortieth anniversary of the band. This lavish double picture disc is housed in a gatefold sleeve, which features iconic photos of the band, shot by Paul Slattery on February 8, 1979, in front of a huge Motörhead Snaggletooth mural on the Harrow Road in Paddington, London.
