CONCERT REVIEW: Testament – Overkill – Destruction Live at The Roseland Theater

I had the opportunity to see Testament with opening acts Overkill and Destruction in Portland, Oregon on March 14, 2026 for the kickoff of the North American tour! Opening up the show was Germany’s Destruction, who are touring the US behind their 2025 release Birth of Malice. The one constant member of the band since its formation in 1982 is Marcel Schirmer, aka Schmier, who is the lead singer and bassist. They actually came out ten minutes before 7:00 and performed an excellent 40-minute set. The crowd definitely had a lot of Destruction fans in it, and everybody seemed pleased with their performance. ALBUM REVIEW: Testament – Para Bellum

On  Para Bellum – (Nuclear Blast Records) Testament continues to uphold the legacy of quality decades in the making. Despite not being the household name like the bands of the Big Four, these had chops that rivaled Megadeth’s most shredding line-up. Of the Big Four, Slayer was the only band darker and more aggressive than the classic mid-to-late Eighties period for this band. While this new order marks the debut of Chris Dovas, the former drummer of Seven Spires, whose youthful exuberance gets the job done. Testament Shares a New Single and Video for “Shadow People” – New Album “Para Bellum” Coming Soon

Bay Area thrash metal icons Testament return this Fall with their fourteenth studio album, Para Bellum. The album, which will be released on October 10th via Nuclear Blast Records, stands as both a battle cry and an observation of humanity’s uneasy alliance with its own creations. The band’s latest single, “Shadow People,” is a haunting and groovy track that will have you looking over your shoulder.
