Ghost Introduces Papa Emeritus IV at Their Final Concert of the “Prequelle” Tour Cycle

As long predicted by Ghost Cult, Ghost introduced Papa Emeritus IV at the final date on the Prequelle World Tour in Mexico City. The new character who will front the band during its next album cycle. No word yet if we have seen the end of Cardinal Copia as he was, but it seems he was promoted to Papa IV. Papa Nihil, Saxophone player live and character in all of Ghost’s recent videos has apparently died or been killed off. Tobias Forge performed as a “new” Papa Emeritus on each of the band’s first three LPs, with each version of Papa replacing the one that came before it. Papa Emeritus III was retired in favor of Cardinal Copia before the release of 2018’s “Prequelle” album. Video footage and photos of the big reveal can be seen below. Ghost Shares A New Trailer, Announces Tour Of Europe With Metallica

Ghost has shared another one of their humous clips starring Sister Imperator and Papa Nihil. The two chat by phone, as Sister is still laid up in the hospital after “The Accident”. The two have a discussion that can be interpreted as a veiled self-reverential diss at their history of different Papa’s and their replacement Cardinal Copia. Later in the clip Sister is phoned up by “The Original One” to see how she is doing. The band has stated that Papa Emeritus III is dead and the Papa character is “retired.” The band announced earlier their extensive Stadium tour of Europe next summer as the direct support for Metallica along with Bokassa for their “Worldwired To Self Destruct” 2019 tour. Ghost is about to begin their “A Pale Tour Named Death” tour of the USA soon.Continue reading

Ghost: Live At The Clyde Theatre

Some “stranger things” seemed to start occurring on this road trip immediately. Let me step back a bit. I love road trips and when I was asked to cover Ghost, I jumped at the chance. Ghost and the clergy put on an AMAZING show that will keep you in a mesmerized trance! Not sure if this has happened to anyone as they where heading out to see Ghost, but for me, this was a Stranger Things can happen road trip. Off to Fort Wayne, Indiana to a recently remodeled “The Clyde” theater,  decked out and powered by Sweetwater Studios Theatre. So the 1st strange thing that started happening was once on the highway heading on out to Indiana my car started to drive a little strange, not a smooth ride, almost as if it really didn’t want to make this road trip… I’ve made a couple and yes things happen to vehicles, so I stopped did a once over and everything appeared fine. Continued on my way and the car was still driving oddly but for the love of music, I press on.Continue reading

Keeping the hype train rolling along, Ghost performed at a private event in Chicago last night, playing a short unplugged set and debuting what looks to be the first single off of their new album, ‘Rats’. They performed for the first time with Cardinal Copia (Tobia Forge), their new frontman in the band following the previous leaders Papa Emeritus, Papa Emeritus II, and Papa Emeritus III. Watch this video clip of the band performing a snippet of ‘Cirice’ acoustic. Continue reading

Ghost Reveals “New” Frontman

Enigmatic occult rockers Ghost has finally unveiled their new frontman and leader, the replacement for Papa Emeritus III. Rather than another Papa, (an aged Papa Zero was teased), the band has introduced “Cardinal Copia” as their new frontman. Usually, an announcement of this kind is the forerunner to a new single or new album details, which may be incoming from the band. A tour has been announced with new images of the previous Papa incarnation, so its possible the Cardinal one of the many guises the ghost frontman takes in concert.

Bloodstock Open Air 2017 – Part 2

Day 3.

SATURDAY

If you were one of the first hundred people to enter the New Blood tent on Saturday morning, then first band of the day Ward XVI (8/10) would reward you with a goodie bag full of stuff like CDs, stickers and t-shirts etc. I strolled over to the tent a good half an hour before they were due on, only to find that half the festival was already in there. It’s amazing how people, no matter how tired or hungover, will always drag themselves out of bed on the promise of free stuff. Goodie bags aside, Ward XVI were a great way to start the Saturday fun. Eclectic and fun, they combined chuggy metal riffs with bouncy Psychobilly, creepy gothic melodies, and at one point, what appeared to be Russian folk. The band’s costumes and make-up were interesting, but like vocalist Psychoberrie‘s strait-jacketed ballad (Alice Cooper and ‘The Ballad of Dwight Frye’ anyone?) they all felt a little too familiar.Continue reading

Bloodstock Open Air 2017 – Part 1

Thursday

For anyone looking for early indicators that Bloodstock 2017 would be as ridiculous and over the top as usual, then surely the sight which would have greeted many – a group of people in the field acting as the event’s main car park, cheering on a Red Power Ranger as he gyrated and danced on top of a car – would have been as good a first sign as any.Continue reading
