Reeking Aura Share New Track “On The Promise Of The Moon”

New York City death metal outfit Reeking Aura have unveiled the title track from their forthcoming second album, On The Promise Of The Moon, due April 17th via Profound Lore Records.

Tracked by Keith Moore at OK Recording Studios in Kinderhook, New York, and mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö, the album builds on Reeking Aura’s brutal New York death metal roots with a stronger melodic and atmospheric presence, and is completed with cover art by premier Moldovan painter Ion Carchelan.  The record also features guest vocal contributions from Eston Browne (Vulnificus) and Jon Berg (The Path), along with string arrangements by Ben Karas. (Slaughtersun)

Speaking about the song, vocalist Will Smith said the lyrics for “On The Promise Of The Moon” stay in line with the band’s “agricultural death metal” theme, evoking shellfish harvesting, tree pruning, and effigies for the dead through the eyes of a doomed fisherman trapped in a violent storm. He also noted that drummer Hudson Barth led the track’s composition, helping shape its balance of cryptic melody and rhythmic brutality.

Speaking only from this author’s perspective this Boston unit has never fumbled the ball on a studio album. Dispute that amongst yourselves in the comment section, just don’t tag me along in your spirited debates. Last thing I need are more notifications via my phone. So, the point is Netherheaven (Metal Blade) may as well be subtitled “Revocation continues to be awesome and David Davidson is more talented than you, will never run out of riffs and can make out with your special lady friend whenever they like”.
