Reeking Aura Share New Track “On The Promise Of The Moon”

New York City death metal outfit Reeking Aura have unveiled the title track from their forthcoming second album, On The Promise Of The Moon, due April 17th via Profound Lore Records.

Tracked by Keith Moore at OK Recording Studios in Kinderhook, New York, and mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö, the album builds on Reeking Aura’s brutal New York death metal roots with a stronger melodic and atmospheric presence, and is completed with cover art by premier Moldovan painter Ion Carchelan.  The record also features guest vocal contributions from Eston Browne (Vulnificus) and Jon Berg (The Path), along with string arrangements by Ben Karas. (Slaughtersun)

Speaking about the song, vocalist Will Smith said the lyrics for “On The Promise Of The Moon” stay in line with the band’s “agricultural death metal” theme, evoking shellfish harvesting, tree pruning, and effigies for the dead through the eyes of a doomed fisherman trapped in a violent storm. He also noted that drummer Hudson Barth led the track’s composition, helping shape its balance of cryptic melody and rhythmic brutality.

Reeking Aura has shared the title track from their upcoming new album, On The Promise Of The Moon (Profound Lore Records), offering another look at the band’s immersive and punishing take on death metal.

While the group is made up of longtime veterans of the New York City and New Jersey underground, Reeking Aura is far from a side project. Their sound merges immersive atmosphere and technical precision with the thunderous foundation of East Coast brutal death metal. Since forming in 2019, the band has issued the EP Beneath The Canopy Of Compost, the full-length Blood And Bonemeal, and the EP Fires In Deep Frost.

Now, Reeking Aura returns with their monstrous second album, On The Promise Of The Moon. The current lineup includes guitarists Terrell Grannum (Thaetas) and Rick Habeeb (Grey Skies Fallen, Buckshot Facelift) as well as vocalist William Smith (Afterbirth, Buckshot Facelift, ex-Artificial Brain). Drummer Hudson Barth (Trog) and bassist TJ Coon (Trog, Sentient Horror)
