ALBUM REVIEW: Necrot – Mortal – Tankcrimes
What’s the best strategy when it comes time to record a follow-up to a critically acclaimed album like 2017’s Blood Offerings? Well, for Necrot it seems as simple as following the course. Yes, that approach on paper does come across a little reductionist and it may imply that Mortal (Tankcrimes) is merely a rehash. But while Necrot may not be reimagining the genre on Mortal they are serving up some of the most satisfying Death Metal today.

Bay Area death metal/punk trio Necrot today has shared another new single, “Asleep Forever,” from their frother coming new album, Mortal due out August 28th via Tankcrimes Records. Mortal was recorded by Grammy award-winning engineer Greg Wilkinson (High On Fire, Autopsy) and mastered by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, Mastodon) at West West Side. Metal Vs Racism Releases Its Second Episode
After making its debut early this week with episode one, Metal Vs. Racism, an online collective of metal musicians has shared their second episode. This episode features Alex Skolnik of Testament, Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust, Leon De Muerte of Terrorizer, Mike IX of EyeHateGod, Chiyo of Noothgrush, Scotty Peterson of Cryptic Slaughter, Greg Wilkerson of Brainoil/Deathgrave, Rev. Ben Falgoust of Goatwhore and more! Episode 1 featured members of High On Fire, Sepultura, Gatecreeper, Exhumed, Necrot, Blood Incantation, and others. They have come together in a new video denouncing white supremacy, police brutality, and racism. Necrot Shares “‘Stench Of Decay” Single, New Album Due Out This Summer
Rising death metal band Necrot will release their new album Mortal via Tankcrimes Records this summer, on August 28th! The band revealed their new single ‘Stench Of Decay’, as well as the tracklisting and artwork (see below). Physical pre-orders are live at the link below and digital pre-orders go live on June 5th, 2020, which is also the next “Bandcamp Day” when that site will waive their share of fees and donate them to bands. LIVE REVIEW: Gatecreeper – Exhumed – Necrot – Judiaciary: Live at Sanctuary
The Fresh-faced act Gatecreeper and the veteran collective Exhumed both recently released shiny new full-length albums. Just six weeks ago we were gifted with some fresh and fearsome material from these great groups. Now they have joined forces on the road to play their new fantastically foul tunes. The Sanctuary was an ideal venue to host a stop on this tour. It’s the perfect size and atmosphere for the fans to experience an intimate and enjoyable encounter with these Death Metal experts. Just outside of Detroit, The Sanctuary caters particularly well to the heavy. This pocket-sized music club proudly hosts some of the best metal shows that come through Michigan. With venues like this, and local acts like Mutilatred, show us that the metal scene in this state is alive and well. The enthusiastic gang of guys in Mutilatred opened the show with a spunky, spirited set. They even handed out actual paper flyers which gave the night a marvelously old school feel. Continue reading

The final bands on the bill are Midnight, Gatecreeper and Necrot have joined the lineup of Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly at the Fillmore Philadelphia on April 3-4, 2020. All tickets are on sale now for April. The second edition of their Los Angeles Fest is just weeks away and tickets are moving fast.
