FESTIVAL REVIEW: Oblivion Access – Various Venues – Austin, Texas

After a two year postponement, Oblivion Access Festival finally happened! Although I couldn’t attend all four days of festivities, I drove up to Austin, TX on Saturday to catch the legendary hardcore Youth of Today! It only took over three decades to finally see them lol. The festival was quite an undertaking, involving a lot of local Austin venues on 5th, 6th, and 7th Street. After 3 /12 hours of driving I was ready to stretch my legs, get some blood moving and stay cool in the humid Texas heat. Picking up my passes was a breeze as there were signs posted at Native Hostel directing you to the kind staff who greeted people with friendly smiles and words of encouragement to enjoy themselves.

FESTIVAL REVIEW: ROADBURN 2022 – Part 1

After three years of waiting and longing, finally there will be an in person Roadburn Festival again. While the 2021 online edition Roadburn Redux, was in itself, innovative and the best digital festival I’ve seen set up during the dark days of the pandemic, nothing beats being physically shaken by bass heavy music and  hugging friends from all over the world you only see once a year.

The return of live music, especially heavy music, provides the cathartic relief we have all been looking for. Oblivion Access, the eclectic music festival highlighting hip-hop, electronic, avant-garde, and punk has added tremendous new names to the ever expanding bill. The multi-venue music festival returns to downtown Austin on May 12-15. Tickets to each of the newly announced festival concerts will go on sale tomorrow, Friday, February 11th, 2022 at 10 a.m. CT via the link below, in addition to a limited amount of full festival badges at the link below. Joining the lineup are Danny Brown to help headline the expanded four-day fest in addition to other new performers like Grouper, Andy Morin (of Death Grips), The Microphones, HO99O9, Massacre, Cities Aviv, King Woman, Billy Woods, and KTRK, among others. Cannibal Corpse, Candlemass, Wolves In The Throne Room, The Red Chord and More Booked for Decibel Metal and Beer Fest

Decibel Magazine has announced its 2022 Philadelphia edition of their popular Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly. Taking place June 10th – and 11th, 2022,— the world’s loudest, two-day craft beer event has booked a killer bunch of bands for the event Cannibal Corpse, Candlemass, Wolves In The Throne Room, The Red Chord, Voivod, Full of Hell, Soul Glo, All Else Failed, Derkéta,  Craven Idol, Sanguisugabogg, The Silver, and Deathevokation. For exclusive performances WITTR will perform all of Two Hunters, Nuclear Assault will perform all of Game Over, and the reunited Red Chord will perform all of their classic Clients album. All tickets are on sale Friday, February 4 at 10 a.m. EST.

Roadburn 2022 has announced a massive wave of essential artists added to the line-up! Lingua Ignota, Emma Ruth Rundle, 40 Watt Sun, Mizmor and many more now  join the festival! These bands join the previously announced acts Ulver, Sólstafir, Alcest, Backxwash, Russian Circles, artist in residence – Full of Hell and many others. Roadburn Festival will take place between April 21-24 in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Tickets for Roadburn 2022 are on sale now. Friday and Saturday day tickets are sold out. Thursday and Sunday day tickets, 3-day and 4-day tickets remain in limited numbers.
