Albuquerque stoner metal outfit, Blue Heron, have just shared their tribute to industrial legends, Nine Inch Nails; a cover of “Head Like a Hole.” Accompanied by a video, it is the first single from the companion album Best of Nine Inch Nails Redux. The full-length is to be released parallel to the forthcoming The Downward Spiral Redux, part of the Magnetic Eye Records Redux Series. Both tribute albums are due out November 28, 2025. Marc Urselli’s Steppendoom present their unique take on Soundgarden’s doomy classic “4th of July”. This beautifully strange rendition features an actual member of Soundgarden in drummer Matt Cameron (also Pearl Jam) as well as Igor Sydorenko of Ukraine’s Stoned Jesus, multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes (Chris Cornell solo, Queens Of The Stone Age, Eleven, Them Crooked Vultures) and throat singers Utelo and the legendary Albert Kuvezin (of Tuvan throat singing collective YAT-KHA).

Magnetic Eye Records have announced the next installment in their acclaimed Redux Series of cover versions honouring legendary rock classics with a pair of double albums paying tribute to grunge gods Soundgarden in the form of “Superunknown Redux” and “Best of Soundgarden Redux”. Following established tradition, the label is presenting the project first with a Kickstarter campaign, and today reveals the inclusion of a track featuring an actual member of Soundgarden, in the form of drummer Matt Cameron contributing to a cover by doom metal meets throat singing project Marc Urselli’s STEPPENDOOM. Alongside Cameron are guitarist Alain Johannes (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, ELEVEN), and STONED JESUS vocalist Igor Sydorenko as well as throat singers Albert Kuvezin (YAT-KHA) and Utelo.
