I love a two band killer lineup show and a night of Boris playing Pink and Uniform opening is the literal definition of a killer night. NYC’s own Uniform opened things up at the Brooklyn Steel. Performing with only a single upward facing light from the stage floor setting the mood in the black abyss that was the crowd and every band member except the singer. I’ve been fortunate enough to see Uniform at least once a year for the past five years and they just keep getting better. The current lineup with two drummers and someone dedicated to the synths is a wonderful aural pummeling that I truly enjoy basking in.
Few bands could have successfully followed up after the set Uniform threw down, but Boris playing Pink easily surmounted it and gifted the audience an hour plus of their signature riffs. Boris has been consistently amazing live, for the last twenty years I’ve not witnessed any reason to think they plan on slowing down any time soon. The sold out Brooklyn Steel was packed with bodies slamming into each other, surfing over the barricade, and expressing general mirth and merriment. I love Boris and every sonic journey they have taken me on over the years. I truly hope for another twenty years of amazing music from these performers that manage to always put an ear to ear smile on my face.
