Progressive metallers Third Ion will releasing their debut album 13/8Bit on May 25, 2015 via Glasstone Records. Album artwork comes courtesy of Harley K at Necrographix. Watch the album trailer below.
Third Ion is the product of a mutual love of prog, video games, and science. The debut album will contain eight to ten songs, including the title track which is written entirely in 13/8 time signature. 8-Bit musical renditions of every song will be released as well, to pay homage to their 1980s classic gaming inspirations.
New England progressive death metallers Eschaton is streaming a video teaser for their forthcoming album Sentinel Apocalypse, out May 19, 2015 via Unique Leader Records. Watch it below.
A theological term that refers to the world during the post historic era of God’s overt apocalyptic reign, immediately preceding the end of the world, Eschaton was founded in 2007 near Providence, Rhode Island and manifests a uniquely belligerent, stand-alone sound that’s at once harsh and procedural yet wholly-enthralling. Featuring vocalist Jason Viteri, guitarist brothers Joshua and Jared Berry, bassist Pat Pattison and drummer Darren Cesca (Pillory, Arsis, Goratory, Incinerate), Sentinel Apocalypse was captured at Cesca’s House Of Grind Studios in southern Connecticut and supplies eleven tracks of some of the most visceral and unrelenting sounds the collective has ever composed. Rife with surgically precise guitar sweeps, debilitating drum work and enough vocal venom to collapse a population, Sentinel Apocalypse is fit for devotees of the maniacal craftings of Carnifex, The Faceless, Necrophagist, The Black Dahlia Murder and Beneath The Massacre.
Sentinel Apocalypse Track Listing:
1. Obligatory Conviction
2. Behold The Nexus
3. Immortal Mutilation
4. Achromatic Reign
5. Animus
6. Falsified Existence
7. Intergalactic Annihilation
8. The Beast Is Embedded
9. The Beast Is Awakened

“Motor Sister is a group of musicians whose collective musical pedigrees speak for themselves.” Mother Superior founder, guitarist, and vocalist Jim Wilson fronts the band, with Anthrax’s Scott Ian on guitar, Pearl Aday on backing vocals, Joey Vera on bass, and John Tempesta on drums.
The group was originally assembled to jam for Scott Ian’s fiftieth birthday party. Thanks to Scott’s wife Pearl Aday, who has been working on her solo career with Mother Superior front man Jim Wilson for years, all it took was a quick phone call and the stage was literally set for Scott’s dream gig. “I wanted to cherry-pick a set list of my favorite Mother Superior songs and get these guys together and have the concert at my house,” Ian says of the event that eventually led to an album. That album became known as Motor Sister’s Ride.
Italian mystical doom trio Ufomammut has announced their first ever North American tour with Usnea as support. Their new albumEcate is out March 31, 2015 in North America via Neurot Recordings.
Now more than fifteen years into their time together as Ufomammut, the band’s only prior US outings were two live shows in Los Angeles and San Francisco in 2009 in conjunction with their crushing Idolum LP. Since Idolum, the band’s popularity has grown exponentially, through the magic of their Eve LP, their signing with Neurosis‘ label, Neurot Recordings for the 2012 release of their two-part ORO LP, and their following 2013-released XV DVD through their own Supernatural Cat Records. The desire to witness the outfit crafting its psychedelic and decimating craft in the flesh has become nearly overwhelming for stateside fans, but a shift in the tides this Spring will bring a major change as the trio invades American soil for their first-ever widespread US tour in the months ahead.
Watch Ecate‘s guitars become realized with episode four here.
Catch up on the recording of the drums, bass and more with part 1, part 2 and part 3.

San Francisco’s Enablerswill release their fifth full length album The Rightful Pivot on April 10, 2015 via Exile On Mainstream handling the CD release in conjunction with Lancashire and Somerset handling the LP and Atypeek Music releasing the album digitally. Watch the album trailer here.
The Rightful Pivot Track Listing:
01. Went Right
02. She Calls After You
03. The Percentages
04. Look
05. Solo
06. Good Shit
07. West Virginia
08. Enopolis
Formed in 2002, Enablers’ subsequent four LPs and two EPs have all achieved a certifiable non-compliance with standard approaches to “spoken word” music, and their latest proves to be a further development in the band’s powerful sense for difference and absolute indifference to classification. The Rightful Pivot will come as a treat to explorers of unique expression.
Since the 2004 release of their first LP, End Note (Neurot Recordings), Enablers has established a new direction in spoken word music. The prose and poetry of Pete Simonelli (published poet, writer, and audiobook narrator) is intricately woven into the dynamic interplay of guitarists Joe Goldring (former Swans, Toiling Midgets, Touched By A Janitor) and Kevin Thomson (former Nice Strong Arm, Timco, Touched By A Janitor), and is punctuated by drummer Sam Ospovat (PIKI, Beep!, tUnE-yArDs, William Winant).
Musically, the compositions range from melodic minimalism to heavy, rhythmically challenging thickets of sound. Following End Note was Output Negative Space (Neurot Recordings) and Tundra (Exile on Mainstream) as well as two EP’s featuring extended improvisations (The Achievement on Awesome Vistas and Now You Can Answer My Prayers on Lancashire and Somerset). With an almost entirely DIY approach to touring and intense live performances, the band continually pleases fans in the underground of the European continent and the UK, and have earned merit as a consistently visible band, always on the road. Their last release, Blown Realms and Stalled Explosions (Exile On Mainstream and Lancashire and Somerset Dance Society), found Enablers evolving even more. The record’s textural and evocative sound realized a new direction while maintaining the distinct elements of musicianship and imagination that made the previous releases so engaging.

Motor Sisteris streaming their full album Ride, out March 10, 2015 via Metal Blade Records, here.
“Motor Sister is a group of musicians whose collective musical pedigrees speak for themselves.” Mother Superior founder, guitarist, and vocalist Jim Wilson fronts the band, with Anthrax‘s Scott Ian on guitar, Pearl Aday on backing vocals, Pearl Aday on bass, and John Tempesta on drums.
Singer Jim Wilson on the album:

The video for “Fork in the Road” which provides a rare glimpse into the recording of this Mother Superior favorite by Motor Sister can be viewed here.
Watch the video for “This Song Reminds Me Of You” here.
“[Mother Superior] frontman Jim [Wilson] was totally into the idea. Pearl was a huge Mother Superior fan from way back and was in. I asked my good friends Joey Vera (Fates Warning/Armored Saint) and John Tempesta to be a part of it because I knew they were both big fans as well and with no hesitation they said, ‘We’re in.'”
Wilson, too, was stoked by the opportunity to dust off some songs he hadn’t played since his LA rock trio broke up in the early 2000’s after releasing eight albums and playing as Henry Rollins‘ backing band. “I definitely didn’t need any arm-twisting,” he says. “I was totally flattered and thought it was a great idea. I figured it would be fun and it was a great opportunity for a new chapter to be established in order to move forward.”
In support of the project Motor Sister played a show a in Brooklyn, NY earlier this month and have scheduled two special shows:
Mar 11: The Whisky – Los Angeles, CA
Mar 12: DNA Lounge – San Francisco, CA.
