A GoFundMe Campaign Has Been Launched for Oakland Metal Club Eli’s Mile High
One of the most vital clubs to the Bay Area metal scene today is Eli’s Mile High. The club has recently come under fire due to new zoning laws in Oakland that have forced them to close their patio, reduce staff, and scramble to fund the business. A GoFundMe has been launched to raise money and already 644 people have donated toward the cause. One donor is Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day, a booster in the Oakland area of businesses and a small business owner himself. The fundraiser page reads: “We are reaching out to our beloved community for help with supporting this historic venue through recently imposed city restrictions and zoning issues on its ability to ‘Make Fun Easy’ and reopen the Eli’s patio.” Please donate if you can I’m we cannot lose this club. Shudder To Think Reunited for Their First Live Shows in Over a Decade
Formed in the ‘80s, and disbanded in 1998, DC-area post-hardcore art rock band, Shudder to Think, returned for two shows on Saturday, March 15th. Taking place at Los Angeles’ Permanent Records Roadhouse, these performances were their first since 2013, featuring Pony Express Record-era bandmates, Craig Wedren on lead vocals, Nathan Larson on guitar, and Adam Wade on drums, joined by Clint Walsh on guitar and Jherek Bischoff on bass. There have been so many loving tributes to Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake, UFO, Alaska) since he passed away peacefully in 2023 at the age of 72. Bernie was always keen to show the music that inspired him, whether through his stage set or on his albums. In addition to 2023’s Working Man chart-busting solo albums since 2021 in Kings, Chess, and Trios, as part of his Inspirations series, in which he paid tribute to the artists that helped shape his taste in music and guitar style. With the approval of Bernie’s widow, Fran Marsden, the fourth album of studio recordings in the Inspirations Series, Icons, will be released on 9th May 2025.
