Exhorder, enjoying a rejuvenated spirit and output as a band in recent years, has parted ways with founding guitarist Vinnie LaBella. The band issued a statement saying that they will fulfill their “touring and recording obligations for 2020 and beyond.” LaBella posted a message that seems to cast doubt on the mutual part, but that is yet to be confirmed, beyond a vague message. Exhorder released their new album, Mourn The Southern Skies, last September via Nuclear Blast Records. Singer Kyle Thomas is now the sole remaining founding member of the band. The rest of the current lineup is rounded out by Jason Viebrooks (HEATHEN) on bass, Marzi Montazeri (Ex-Superjoint Ritual, Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals) on guitar and Sasha Horn (Forbidden) on drums. They will undertake the new Wings Over The USA’ tour soon, featuring Overkill and Hydraform as well. Continue reading

ALBUM REVIEW: Exhorder – Mourn The Southern Skies
Formed in 1985, Louisiana’s Exhorder left a brief but lasting impression on a dying thrash scene with their controversial 1990 debut Slaughter in the Vatican and its more mature, but equally impressive 1992 follow-up, The Law (both Roadrunner). Just as thrash was making way for the unplugged introspection and tatty woolly jumpers of grunge, Exhorder arrived in an attempt to revitalise the scene. Continue reading
