Vicious music chameleons Turkey Vulture are back with a new single, from their upcoming second EP, Time To Pay, due out on July 31st. Up until now, the duo from  Connecticut has shown shades of Stoner Doom, old-school Punk, local Sea shanty’s, Heavy Metal, and on occasion, Americana with inventive originals and inspired covers. In a new track derived from by the infamous “Crossroads” story of Bluesman Robert Johnson and the Devil, “Old Nick” is a revved-up, proto-metal blues track with a great shuffle beat! ALBUM REVIEW: Black Stone Cherry – Black To Blues Vol. 2

After the success of the first one, and acting as a nice stop gap between albums, comes Back to Blues Vol. 2 (Mascot Records) – Black Stone Cherry’s second EP covering blues standards from years gone by. Like the first one it comes a year after a proper album, 2018s Family Tree (Mascot Records) in this case, and is chock full of big names. Happily, also like the first volume, it is a joy from start to finish – with the six blues classics given the full Black Stone Cherry treatment.

Black Stone Cherry Announce New Release Date for “Black To Blues Volume 2” EP

Blues-rock band Black Stone Cherry return with another covers album in tribute to heroes such as Freddie King, Robert Johnson, Otis Rush, Howlin’ Wolf, Elmore James and Son House on Black To Blues Volume 2, which will now be released on November 1st via Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group. The new date is the result of unforeseen production issues that have since been rectified. Jaye Jayle – No Trail And Other Unholy Paths

For those unaware of the sinister, weird magnificence of David Lynch, his films and series are usually accompanied by equally strange yet wonderful music: edgy, dark, seductive, indulging the seedy side of Americana. Young Widows frontman Evan Patterson’s solo project Jaye Jayle fits this bill perfectly, its Dark Country-style jangle carrying a profound melancholy, and with sophomore album No Trail And Other Unholy Paths (Sargent House) being produced by Lynch’s musical adviser Dean Hurley, there’s an added resonance here.Continue reading →
