Ghost Cult’s Keefy caught up with Ilan Rubin last fall to discuss his band The New Regime! Although Illan is world-renowned for his drumming prowess in groups like Angels & Airwaves and Nine Inch Nails, he has been quietly building a monster band with The New Regime over a series of killer albums, EPs and singles. The bands’ new release Body is third mini-release in the trilogy following Heart and Mind and is dropping on January 24th. The new full-length Heart Mind Body & Soul is coming later this spring. We chatted with Ilan about his entire career, how he balances multiple projects at once, how he goes seamlessly from sideman to frontman, his approach to songwriting and much more. Judas Priest Makes a Case for Entry Into The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in New Video

Heavy Metal legends Judas Priest has just shared a new video touting their nomination fo the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Packed with their greatest songs and a ton of facts about the bands’ fifty-year card-career makes the case for the band rightly deserving the honor. Not only is “The Priest” one of the longest-running original heavy metal bands ever, elected to multiple Halls of Fame by press and fans, but also as relevant as ever with their 2018 album Firepower (Epic Records). They will celebrate their anniversary as a band next year with the 50 Years of Heavy Metal tour, headline dates, opening for Ozzy Osbourne, and headlining festivals such as Wacken Open Air. The band is nominated for the hall along with other rock and metal icons Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails, Motörhead (both on the ballot for the first time), Nine Inch Nails, Thin Lizzy, Todd Rundgren, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, as well as stiff competition from Pop, Rock and Rap icons such as possible entrants Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Dave Matthews Band, The Doobie Brothers, the Notorious B.I.G., Pat Benatar, T-Rex, and the iconic singer (and likely lock to get in) Whitney Houston. Judas Priest is doing solidly in the early fan voting (fifth behind DMB, Pat Benatar, The Doobies, and Soundgarden), but the fan vote barely counts in the end and is a symbolic gesture.Continue reading →


Nine Inch Nails Wins Country Music Association Award for “Old Town Road”

Sometimes the thing you don’t want any part of wants you more! According to a published report by Revolver, Nine Inch Nails, a.k.a., Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won a Country Music Association Award today for their production on the sample from Nine Inch Nails’ “34 Ghosts IV” (found on the Ghosts I-IV collection) that wound up in the global smash hit remix of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” The 53rd annual ceremony is set to air tonight, November 13th, but many winners were announced earlier today on Good Morning America, including Reznor and Ross.

Hear a Classic David Bowie Song in the New Full Trailer For “Watchmen”

Watchmen, the forthcoming TV series based on Alan Moore’s 1980s comic books will make its debut this fall in early October on HBO. The series is a direct sequel to the comic book and not directly connected with the 2009 movie. A new trailer debuted this weekend at San Diego Comi Con and features the classic David Bowie song ‘Life on Mars’, in an allusion to central character Dr. Manhattan. The song comes from Bowie’s fourth album Hunky Dory. The series score will be handled by Nine Inch Nails duo Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. The show is created by Showrunner/exec producer Damon Lindelof (Lost, The Leftovers), and stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Andrew Howard, Tom Mison and Frances Fisher.Continue reading →
