CONCERT REVIEW: Mercyful Fate – Kreator – Midnight Live at Kings Theatre



Going to the King’s Theatre always feels like a pilgrimage if you don’t have a car. It’s a little trek from the closest train station. But, it’s worth it to see the legendary Mercyful Fate. The last I saw them was also in Brooklyn, in 1999 for the 9 album tour at the (former) “Rock Capital of Brooklyn”, L’Amour. So this was a hell of a size upgrade. I’ve seen all of these bands at different times. It’s fitting to catch them at such a fancy venue.

CONCERT REVIEW: Wardruna – Live at Kings Theatre 


 

After three long years the wait is finally over! Wardruna has landed on American soil once again, touring with new material from their 2021 release Kvitravn (Sony/By Norse Recordings). Wardruna, modern ambassadors of ancient Norse music, culture and lore tour with a full load of historical and traditional instruments including deer-hide framed drums, Lur, Tagelharpe, Kraviklyra, Tungehorn, and Jaw-Harp… just to name a few. This, combined with the stunningly unique venues they play worldwide ensures a live performance unlike any other.

Watch Bikini Kill and Joan Jett Perform “Rebel Girl” in Brooklyn


Last night Bikini Kill played at the historic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn as part of their comeback reunion tour. During their set, they were joined by Rock legend Joan Jett for a rendition of ‘Rebel Girl’, a song Jett played on! Jett and Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna have a long association as bandmates, labelmates, and influences on each other, according to last year’s Joan Jett documentary Bad Reputation.
