ALBUM REVIEW: Creeping Death – Wretched Illusions

Call me a Democrat candidate because I’m about to shamelessly pander to the youth; Creeping Death‘s Wretched Illusions (eOne) fucks. I think I typed that out correctly. That’s the saying, right, fellow kids? All that nonsense aside, know that Creeping Death is here and much like their Texan brethren in Power Trip, they’ve packed all the riffs and mosh parts that a growing boy needs from their metal. Clutch – Killswitch Engage – – Cro-Mags JM Live at The Capitol Theatre

In one of the killer tours of late summer, Killswitch Engage armed with their new album and Clutch riding high on a series of new covers/singles totally lit up the night at The Capitol Theatre. The quaint and historic theater in sleepy Port Chester, New York has been around forever. It’s known as “The Original Rock Palace” for a reason.  When a co-headline tour like this comes around the place fills up and the pit jumps off! Opening the show on this tour was Cro-Mags JM (as in John Joseph and Mackie Jason). The band played their hits, and considering they were both early influences on both bill toppers, this pairing is a great fit! Clutch has been on fire the last few years and are a must-see band live! Few frontmen can command a crowd as Neal Fallon can. Lastly, KsE came armed to the teeth with new music to play. The crushing ‘Unleashed’, and the soulful Punk energy of ‘I Am Broken Too’ are straight-up face-melters from their new album Atonement (Metal Blade) which was not quite out at the time of this show. Check out Rosa Miller’s photos from the night and do not miss these bands when they hit your town for a show!

ALBUM REVIEW: Killswitch Engage – Atonement

A few beers in and I’m trying to figure out the angle on this new Killswitch Engage release, Atonement (Metal Blade). Sure, to Johnny NoName, it simple to just say “it’s just another Killswitch album, you know what you’re getting.” And sure, there’s a bit of truth to that statement as we get many of the tried and tested play plays from this Massachusetts staple like rock-solid production, punchy mix, and equal parts melody and guitar fire. I wouldn’t expect any less.Continue reading

Jesse Leach Gives an Update on His Side Projects – Times of Grace and The Weapon

Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach has a hectic schedule. He is winding down Killswitch’s tour with Clutch (coverage soon at Ghost Cult), and the bands’ new album Atonement (Metal Blade) is just weeks away now. Leach just updated fans on two of his other bands, Times of Grace, and The Weapon. Times of Grace features his KsE partner Adam D. and released the incredible debut The Hymn of A Broken Man (Roadrunner Records) in 2011. The band was integral to getting Jesse back into KsE a short time later. The Weapon is a NYHC-inspired band with also features former Thy Will Be Done guitarist Chris Drapeau and has a two-song EP out from 2018. Leach shared in two posts on his Instagram (which you should all follow) that ToG has a new full-length album almost done, and The Weapon is also about to hit the studio this week and finish up their debut full length! Fresh! Continue reading
