Bay Area Thrash legends Testament, Exodus, and Death Angel will embnark on the “The Bay Strikes Back Tour” USA tour this fall! The 30 date trek will kick off on October 6th at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, CA and will make stops in Austin, New York, and Detroit before concluding at The Fox in Oakland on November 27th. General admission tickets for the tour will go on sale on Thursday, July 1st at 10:00 AM local time. Aftershock Festival Adds the Original Misfits As the New Saturday Night Headliner
Aftershock, a festival part of the Danny Wimmer Presents family of events, has announced that The Original Misfits will be the new Saturday Night Headliner, following the departure of My Chemical Romance from the fest due to the pandemic. The original Misfits had booked a slew of arena shows and festival slots in North America from 2018 to 2020. Aftershock also features Metallica as the headliner the other two nights of the fest. GoFundMe Launched to Help Tom Hunting in His Fight Against Cancer
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Exodus drummer Tom Hunting offset the high cost of his battle against cancer, following the start of treatment for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach. The campaign, titled “Help Tom Hunting with his cancer battle!,” was organized by Exodus/Slayer guitarist Gary Holt and created on Tuesday, April 20. In less than 24 hours, the campaign has amassed nearly $4,500 and is now more than $15,000 from hitting the target goal of $20,000. Tom Hunting of Exodus Has Cancer
Sad news as legendary Thrash Metal drummer Tom Hunting of Exodus is fighting a form of esophageal cancer. He has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, a gastric tumor that was diagnosed in his upper stomach The reveal was made in a post to the bands’ Facebook account and contains a message from Tom and the band. He was diagnosed in February and the diagnosis has not quelled his desire to tour once the new album releases this summer, due via Nuclear Blast. Get well soon Tom.
ALBUM REVIEW: Angelus Apatrida – Angelus Apatrida
Translating roughly to “fallen angels”, the eponymously titled seventh album from Spanish thrashers Angelus Apatrida is another brutal barrage of sweat, riffs and fury. Once again, guitarist/vocalist Guillermo Izquierdo and his bass playing brother José J. Izquierdo are joined by second guitarist David G. Álvarez, and Victor Valera on drums, admirably retaining the same stable line-up now for close to twenty years.

In the latest episode of Gibson TV sits down with one of the most influential metal guitarists of all time, Kirk Hammett. Since 1983, Kirk Hammett has been the lead guitarist and member of Metallica. Prior to joining the band, he formed the group Exodus in high school with Gary Holt and helped invent thrash metal as one of the most influential guitarists of this age. Exodus Reveals New Album Title “Persona Non Grata”
Bay Area thrash godfathers Exodus have announced their new album will be dubbed Persona Non Grata, due in the summer of 2021 via Nuclear Blast Records. The post came from Gary Holt’s popular Instagram account. The new album will be the follow up to the follow-up to 20161’s Blood In Blood Out, which marked the return of Steve “Zetro” Souza, who previously fronted the band from 1986 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2004. “Persona Non Grata” was recorded at a studio in Lake Almanor, California and was engineered by Steve Lagudi (Machine Head) and Exodus. It was produced by the band and it is currently being mixed by Andy Sneap.
