Dave Mustaine Says New Megadeth Album is “Coming Along Great”


Dave Mustaine of Megadeth yesterday held a “Virtual Mega Happy Hour” on Friday, July 24 from his home in Franklin, Tennessee via the Instagram account of Megadeth Beer. Reporting on the progress of the new Megadeth album, he says the new album is “coming along great”. He says there are at least eight songs so far, and a few covers they have considered for the recording. You can now watch video of the entire session below.

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has announced his next book will be Rust In Peace: The Inside Story Of The Megadeth Masterpiece (formerly “Building The Perfect Beast”), on September 8th via Hachette Books. Dave was the original lead guitarist of Metallica, and the author of The New York Times bestseller Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir. Megadeth Will Record 18 Songs for Their New Album


Megadeth leader Dave Mustaine has revealed that the band is in the studio and recording up to 18 songs for their highly-anticipated new album, As part of their “The Metal Tour Of The Year” streaming event hosted by SiriusXM’s Jose Mangin, Dave spoke about the progress of the recording sessions for the band’s follow-up to 2016’s “Dystopia” album. He said (see video below, transcribed by Blabbermouth.net): “Dirk [Verbeuren, drums] and David Ellefson [bass] both just finished their parts. And this was probably one of the strongest records we’ve ever had as far as duration. The other records we’ve done have all done been different lengths, and our [record] contract that we have [to deliver] for one company, it’s eight songs, for another company, it’s 11 songs, so, realistically, all we need to do is do an 11-song album and we’re done, right? That’s not the way old Uncle Dave is, though.

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth Declares “I’m Back” After Battle with Cancer


In a new post to social media, Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has declared “I’m Back”, less than one year after his diagnosis with throat cancer. The 58-year-old musician and his bandmates are scheduled to kick off their European tour as the support act for Five Finger Death Punch next week on tour in Europe. Direct support on all shows will come from Bad Wolves. The tour begins on January 20 at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland and ending on February 20 at the Budapest Sportarena in Budapest, Hungary. Mustaine revealed his cancer battle last June on social media. Five months later, he gave an interview to Rolling Stone in which he said that he wasn’t officially in remission but that he had finished the necessary treatment and had started rehabilitation. In addition to touring, Megadeth is expected to release a new album in 2020, their first since 2016’s Dystopia (Tradecraft/Universal) and the first with new drummer Dirk Verbeuren (ex Soilwork).Continue reading

REVIEW: The MegaCruise 2019


Like most metalheads, I’ve been to a lot of metal shows over the years. Over the hundreds of metal shows I’ve attended, never once did I think to myself “You know what would make this even better? Being trapped on a boat in the middle of the fucking ocean.” And yet, having taken some time to reflect on my experiences aboard the inaugural MegaCruise by Megadeth, I revel in the memories of experiencing choppy water while thrashing through the Pacific, convinced I’m going to die on a boat watching Dragonforce and being oddly ok with it.
