Long Beach Mathcore stalwarts The Arson Choir have dropped their new single, “A Thousand Terrible Things,” along with a killer music video, premiering here on our site. The song is a brutal blast of beautiful, kill-everything-now mode riffage, with the band’s trademark crushing grooves, great vocals, and stellar musicianship. Check out “A Thousand Terrible Things” now!
An anthem for the anxious, the track captures the chaos of internal noise and existential doubt. Vocalist Phil Penegar comments:
“This song was born out of the self-talk that walks alongside everyone. The intrusive thought that breaks your concentration to hate on your endeavors. To carry on in spite of those voices is a celebration. Cheer the small victories on the way to your goals. Shitty circumstances can be the soil for great art.”
“A Thousand Terrible Things” lyrics:
The voice in my ear
Knows my worst fears
Every mistake
The weight of my sins
On this scale
Basically say if it’s heaven or hell
Existential crisis
It’s time to tally your vices
Have you been a good drone?
Did you do what they say?
Value your time
Or was it just a waste
Identity crisis
I found another imposter
IMPOSTER
Oh no, where did the time go
It’s too late to try to change things now
Oh no, for better or worse
I did what I could to escape this curse
The voice in my ear
Screams my worst fears
What if you destroy everything that you build?
What if you turn out to be just like him?
What if you spiral out of control?
What if the ones you love don’t love you back?
It’s not the end
You’ve still got time left
You plant the seeds
To reap the rewards
It takes hard work
Always moving forward
Don’t give up now
You can make your own way
