Act Of Defiance Post Studio Update

Act Of Defiance, the new band featuring former Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover, former Scar The Martyr singer Henry Derek Bonner and bassist Matt Bachand (Shadows Fall), issued an update on the recording of their debut album. They entered the studio with producer Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall) to record their debut album via Metal Blade Records. View the album trailer below.

“At this point of the recording of the new Act Of Defiance record — drums, rhythm guitars, bass — are finished. Guitar solos, clean guitars are pretty close to being completed, and Henry is around 70 percent done with vocals.
“The guys still have a few weeks to wrap things up, as it were, before we begin to mix the record with Chris ‘Zeuss’ Harris, for which I personally cannot wait.

“The finish line is not far away in terms of the recording process and all of us cannot wait for you to hear what we have been working on for the past several months.”

He continues:

“People often ask me: what does the new music sound like? I loathe putting music in a nice tiny ‘heavy metal sub-genre’ box, so I won’t. Like I have said from the get-go, this music is 100 percent pure heavy metal made purely for musical purposes. We are creating music that we totally love, with hopes that others will dig it as well, which, at the end of the day, is all you really can try to do, in my opinion. Elements of thrash, progressive, traditional, dynamic — it’s all there and then some.

“We have been working with Travis Smith (Opeth, Nevermore, Overkill, Sanctuary) for our artwork, to which he has really come up with some twisted, bizarre, awesome concepts (right up my alley), which has also been very exciting. We cannot wait to see the finished ideas, to which he will provide in due time.”

Album Trailer: Impellitteri – Venom

Impellitteri is streaming an album trailer for their new album Venom below, out April 17, 2015 in Europe and April 21, 2015 in North America via Frontiers Music Srl.

Venom is described in a press release as “a record filled with addictive and memorable riffs, guitar solos that feature Chris Impellitteri’s blistering shredding technique coupled with strong melody and taste. Rob Rock’s vocals are mesmerizing, melodic, and will make the listener sing along with each song long after the record is over. Lastly, the band boggles the mind with brutal drumming (featuring Jon Dette, formerly of Testament and Slayer) filled with speed and groove and beastly bass playing (curtesy of James Pulli) that supports Impellitteri’s sonic madness! Skinless Posts Trailer For New Album

New York death metallers Skinless has posted a video teaser for their forthcoming new record titled Only The Ruthless Remain, which is due out June 2nd, 2015 in North America (June 1st in the UK/EU and May 29 in DE/Benelux/Finland) via Relapse Records. Watch it below.

The record will feature their classic late 90s lineup with guitarist Noah Carpenter, vocalist Sherwood Webber, bassist Joe Keyser, drummer Bob Beaulac, and new guitarist Dave Matthews. The record was recorded by Tom Case at Edie Road Studio and Doomsday Bunker Studio, both in upstate New York, with vocals tracked by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Primitive Man etc.) at Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado, and the entire monster mastered by Brad Boatright (Obituary, Nails, Integrity etc.) at Audiosiege in Portland, Oregon.

Atlanta heavy rockers Royal Thunder is streaming “Ear On The Fool” here and “Forgive Me, Karma” here, and “The Line” below.

The songs are off their upcoming full length release Crooked Doors, out on April 7, 2015 via Relapse Records.

Agnostic Front has posted the fifth video in the webisode series for their new album The American Dream Died, out April 7, 2015. The album was produced by Madball frontman Freddy Cricien and engineered, mixed and mastered by Paul Miner (H20, Terror), with guest appearances by Toby Morse (H20), Lou Koller (Sick Of It All), and Matt Henderson (one time Agnostic Front and Madball guitarist). Tremonti Releasing Cauterize June 8th, US Dates Confirmed

Alter Bridge and Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti will be releasing his second solo release Cauterize with his solo band Tremonti on June 8, 2015 via Fret 12 Records. The album was produced by Michael “Elvis” Baskette, and features Tremonti (vocals and guitars), Eric Friedman (guitars), Wolfgang Van Halen (bass) and Garrett Whitlock (drums).

Tremonti are also looking forward to hitting the road in support of the new album. However, the band will need to initially tour without bassist Wolfgang Van Halen due to the recently announced Van Halen US tour. “I am still part of TREMONTI and very excited for the release of ‘Cauterize’, but unfortunately am unable to participate in the upcoming dates due to my prior commitment with Van Halen for the summer tour in support of the Tokyo Dome Live In Concert album,” states bassist Wolfgang Van Halen. “Look forward to seeing all of the TREMONTI fans on the road as soon as my schedule permits!”
