Untimely Demise has spent two and a half decades sharpening a sound that draws on Megadeth, Testament, Death, and Arch Enemy, with guitar work and musicianship at its center. Killing Authority is their first release since the 2022 full-length Maverick and arrives independently. Former guitarist Justin Bender (ex-Into Eternity) and the band oversaw the production of this release, with Bender also handling mixing and mastering duties at Divergent Sounds Studios.

The band’s lineup features Matt Cuthbertson (Into Eternity) on lead guitar and vocals, Bryan Newbury (ex-Into Eternity) on drums, Murray Cuthbertson on bass, and Mike Menza (Endless Chaos) on lead guitar.

The band built their reputation the hard way, headlining across Canada for years and logging support slots alongside Suffocation, Death (DTA), Goatwhore, Death Angel, D.R.I., Razor, Demolition Hammer, Pestilence, 3 Inches of Blood, Warbringer, and Toxic Holocaust. In 2014, they took it international, touring England, Belgium, and Germany with Massacre. In 2019, they hit the Headbangers Open Air festival in Hamburg alongside Exciter, Sanctuary, and Queensryche. Along the way, the band earned a 2012 SiriusXM Canadian Independent Music Award nomination for Metal Group of the Year and a 2017 Western Canadian Music Award nomination for Metal/Hard Music Group of the Year.
