“Gypsy Tears” follows debut single “Sleep Eternally” and builds on its momentum with a darker, more atmospheric drive. Mikkey Dee describes it as “a real driving banger,” while vocalist Nils K. Rue says: “At its core, the song is a dark portrait of obsession, told through the eyes of a watcher who cannot let go.” Patric Ullaeus of rEvolver Film Company directed the video. Pete Blakk adds: “‘Gypsy Tears’ is the essence of me, Mikkey, Andy, and Hal. With me and Andy trading off solos and the power of Mikkey and Hal’s rhythm section all supporting the powerful vocals of Nils, the song really brings a new dimension to metal in 2026. The video is tasteful, mystical, and raw, a piece of art that will leave no one untouched.”
Lex Legion brings together guitarists Andy La Rocque, Pete Blakk, drummer Mikkey Dee, and bassist, Hal Patino, four of the five members from King Diamond’s classic late-Eighties lineup that recorded Them (1988) and Conspiracy (1989), alongside vocalist Nils K. Rue of Pagan’s Mind. The project gestated for over two decades, with La Rocque and Blakk first discussing it as far back as 2008 before the pandemic finally gave the band the time and space to see it through.
The album is leaner and more direct than King Diamond’s progressive arrangements, yet rooted in the same era and DNA. “This is totally unique. No one is writing this kind of music, and there’s a big hole for us to fill,” says Blakk. “The album is a journey, and every song is like the beat of a movie.” Touring is expected to begin in 2027.
