Noise rock legends Unsane reissue their pivotal 1998 album Occupational Hazard in a newly remastered edition via their own imprint Lamb Unlimited, out now, alongside a full North American headline tour this fall. Pre-order now and check all dates below.

Originally released in January 1998 through Relapse Records, Occupational Hazard captured Unsane at a pivotal moment, abrasive, uncompromising noise rock colliding with elements of punk, metal, and industrial music. The album was tracked at Excello Studios in Brooklyn with engineer Billy Anderson, following a six-song demo session at AmRep Studios in Minneapolis, and mixed by legendary producer and Barkmarket guitarist David Sardy at his studio in Midtown Manhattan.

Frontman Chris Spencer recalls the period: “The writing process for Occupational Hazard was great. The one real defining factor to this very creatively rewarding period of time in our career was that we knew what we were doing in terms of songwriting, and we were able to take our time while constantly playing.”

The original album cycle was significantly disrupted by a brutal attack on Spencer during a European press tour in Vienna, Austria, where he was left for dead by street thugs and required emergency surgery before returning to touring.

Now more than two decades on, the album has been newly remastered by longtime Unsane collaborator and engineer Andrew Schneider (Acre Audio). All formats include “No Soul,” originally released as a vinyl-only limited edition through Frank Kozik’s now-defunct Man’s Ruin label. The digital download also includes the previously unreleased six-song AmRep Studios demo session, now available for streaming and download for the first time.
