EP REVIEW: Sicksense – Fools Tomorrow

While the leading names in Nu-metal are ones that started twenty to thirty years ago, bands like Sicksense bring high hopes for the genre’s future. Testing the limits of the style Linkin Park and Korn made history with, the group shares their second EP, Fools Tomorrow (Sound Escape Agency), a sequel to their debut EP Kings Today. They each promote the idea of holding on tight to the throne earned from major achievements, stating that it could always be pulled from right under you if your hard work ceases.

ALBUM REVIEW: Epica – Omega

It should come as a surprise to no-one that Omega (Nuclear Blast), the eighth full-length studio release from Dutch symphonic metal act Epica, is another concept-driven album. The Agonist Streaming Eye Of Providence In Entirety

the agonist 2

Montreal metallers The Agonist is streaming their brand new album The Eye of Providence, out now via Century Media Records, here.

The Eye Of Providence, or God’s all-seeing eye, is a piece of religious iconography with origins stemming back to ancient Egypt. But The Agonist aren’t going all History Channel on their new album. The lyrical center isn’t about pyramids, the Freemasons, or its appearance on the United States one-dollar bill. As on previous albums, The Agonist are commenting heavily on advances in monitoring technology, particularly as it relates to governments intruding on the private lives of its citizens.

“We are embracing a number of new topics,” admits guitarist Danny Marino with a cryptic smile. “The Agonist still wants to be a voice for change. However, there are many socio-political and personal topics that we haven’t yet covered. We get into some of those on this record.”

The Agonist recently announced they will join the GET REKT TOUR next month in North America with Allegaeon and Product of Hate. Here are the dates:

The Agonist Releasing Eye of Providence in February via Century Media

Agonist - Eye of Providence

Montreal metallers The Agonist will issue their new album Eye of Providence on February 24, 2015 (North America) and February 23, 2015 (Europe) via Century Media Records. This marks the debut of new vocalist Vicky Psarakis, who replaced Alissa White-Gluz, who joined Arch Enemy. Watch a trailer on the new album here.

Guitarist Danny Marino had this to say about the cover:

“We decided to go with a different medium for the cover art of Eye of Providence. We went with real photography and objects rather than hand drawn or CG as we have in the past. Deepti Suddul provided the awesome close up of the human eye. After that we passed it to Aaron Marsh who took our lyrics and concept to make the amazing cover art and album layout.”
