US death metal icons Monstrosity have unleashed their crushing new single, “The Atrophied,” the latest preview from their upcoming full-length, “Screams From Beneath The Surface” (Metal Blade Records), set for release on March 13th.

Marking their first album in seven years, this vicious new chapter finds Monstrosity operating at peak intensity. Spearheaded by drummer, founder, and primary songwriter Lee Harrison, the revitalized lineup features longtime guitarist Matt Barnes, the return of original bassist Mark Van Erp, and vocalist Ed Webb (ex-Massacre). Notably, Webb’s guttural ferocity injects fresh venom into the band’s sound. Check out the track below! Continue reading →

The riffing on “Stripmined Flesh Extractor” is coherent enough to give it an almost Megadeth-like groove. They tap into the darker tension that fuels Slayer’s vibe for “Freshkills Poltergeist.” They are not doing anything new here; they are just doing it right. Continue reading →
